Classroom Support & Community Assistant — Tuition Exchange Opportunity

Do you love working with young children, creating order, and being part of a community? Brookside Montessori is looking for a part-time team member to support our classrooms and help keep our days running smoothly.

This role is a meaningful blend of classroom support, connection, and behind-the-scenes care.

Compensation:
This position is offered as a tuition exchange for a child enrolled in our 3–6 year old Primary program on Mondays and Tuesdays.
At this time, we are not offering work-trade opportunities for toddler families, as our toddler classroom is typically full and does not have available enrollment spots.

Responsibilities include:
✨ Support toddler classroom transitions and routines
✨ Help cover classroom needs and staff breaks
✨ Model grace, courtesy, and peaceful mealtime routines
✨ Support children during outdoor play and afternoon activities
✨ Help maintain beautiful, prepared classroom environments
✨ Complete rotating cleaning and organization tasks

Typical schedule for Mon/Tues:
• 10:45 — Support toddler classroom during staff break
• 11:30 — Eat lunch with children while modeling manners and community
• 12:00 — Assist toddlers with nap transition
• 12:15 — Supervise recess while Primary lead teacher has planning time
• 12:45 — Reset Primary environment (tables, sweeping, classroom care)
• 1:00 — Rotating deep-cleaning and organization projects
• 2:00 — Lead a planned activity with awake Primary children

High preference to an individual who is open to subbing the school day, when needed, for additional pay.

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, nurturing, enjoys teamwork, and takes pride in creating a calm, prepared environment for children.

Montessori experience is a plus, but a love for children and willingness to learn matters most.

In small groups in primary, children explored turtle 3-part cards, building vocabulary, reading skills, and knowledge of the natural world through hands-on Montessori materials. Activities like these help children connect language, science, and observation in a meaningful way while fostering independence and concentration.
At Brookside Montessori, we believe children learn best when they are actively engaged, curious, and free to explore at their own pace. 💚

A primary student carefully using the toaster is one of those quiet Montessori moments that looks simple on the outside, but holds so much learning underneath!

In Practical Life, real tools are used with real purpose. A toaster isn’t just about making toast, it’s about sequencing, patience, hand-eye coordination, and most importantly, respect for risk. Children learn that heat, timing, and electricity require awareness and care. With clear modeling and repetition, they build independence and confidence in a way that feels natural, not forced.

These are the everyday moments where responsibility becomes something they do, not something they’re told about.

We currently have openings in our programs:
• Toddlers: Mon/Tues opening, Friday PDO openings
• Primary: A few Monday/Tuesday openings, Friday PDO openings
• Elementary: 2 openings

A fantastic first day for our elementary program! Elementary students examined a mushroom, took a walk, had lots of muddy play, did a chalk relay, a rest period, and bottle rocket experiments! Lunch was chicken, buttery noodles (gf/df version available!), Mixed veggies, and orange. Afternoon snack was hippeas and carrot sticks.

We have space for 2 more children to join our year-round elementary program!
