🎓🐾 Congratulations to the MCC-Maple Woods Veterinary Technology Program Class of 2026! 🐾🎓
What an amazing journey it has been watching each of you grow, learn, and become the compassionate, hardworking future Registered Veterinary Technicians we always knew you could be. From your very first labs and nervous hands holding tiny patients, to mastering skills with confidence and heart, we are beyond proud of everything you have accomplished since joining this program. ❤️
You’ve survived early mornings, long study nights, endless anatomy terms, and enough fur, slobber, and scrubs to last a lifetime. And somehow… you still chose to love this profession even more. That says everything about the kind of RVTs you are going to become.
As you step into this next chapter, we wish you all the success, happiness, and fulfillment on the road ahead. The veterinary world is lucky to have such dedicated, compassionate people entering the field. Your patients may not be able to say “thank you,” but every wagging tail, gentle purr, and happy recovery will remind you why this journey was worth it. 🐶🐱🐴
Remember: “Animals may not speak our language, but veterinary technicians speak fluently in compassion.” 💙
And of course, one final lesson before you go:
No matter where life takes you… always watch where you kneel in a kennel. 😄🐾
Congratulations again, Class of 2026! Your Maple Woods family will always be cheering you on. Go make a difference — one paw print at a time. 🩺✨

The Veterinary Technology Program had some *very special guests* on campus… and no, not the furry kind this time 🐾
We welcomed back some of our amazing program graduates (aka the people who survived what we’re currently going through 😅) along with a few new faces for a career panel—and let’s just say, they did NOT hold back.
They answered all the big questions:
“What does life actually look like after graduation?”
“Am I going to know what I’m doing on day one?”
“How do I not panic the first time it’s all on me??”
Spoiler alert: Everyone *does* panic a little… and that’s normal.
Our panelists got real about the fears, the stress, and those “oh no, it’s my responsibility now” moments—but more importantly, they shared how they worked through it. From leaning on their team, to trusting their training, to realizing you don’t have to know everything (just where to find the answer 👀), it was exactly the kind of honesty we all needed.
Also comforting: they were sitting in our exact seats once upon a time… probably just as stressed, caffeinated, and questioning their life choices 😂
Now they’re out there doing the job, helping patients, and making a difference every single day—which makes everything we’re working toward feel a whole lot more real.
✨ **Special Thank You To:**
* Cati Martin, RVT
* Kendra Dostaler, RVT, VTS (EVN)
* Dosha Atwell, RVT
* Hannah Callahan, RVT
* Melissa Andrasik, RVT, BS
Your time, honesty, and advice meant more than you know. You didn’t just answer questions—you gave us confidence that we’ll figure it out too 💙

A huge thank you to our amazing Maple Woods Veterinary Technology alumni who came back to campus and reminded us that veterinary medicine definitely keeps life interesting — because where else do you casually spend your day learning while holding a tarantula, watching a snake glide by, and meeting a hedgehog all in one class? 😄🕷️🐍🦔
Rei Wirsig, RVT (Class of 2019) brought the ultimate “creepy crawlies” lineup — centipedes, cockroaches, tarantulas, scorpions, geckos, and more — giving students the chance to step outside their comfort zones and learn that even the smallest patients deserve confident, careful handling.
Sarah Miller, RVT (Class of 2018) brought a tarantula and once again proved she has a talent for turning nervous laughter into curiosity. Her handling guidance, fun facts, and educational approach helped students realize that understanding an animal often makes it far less intimidating.
Emily Vega, RVT (Class of 2024), with help from David Mendoza, introduced a tortoise, hedgehog, and bearded dragon, showing students how patience and proper support make handling exotic species smoother for both the animal and the technician.
Jeana Arndt, RVT (Class of 2015), along with Dez, brought a tortoise and two snakes, helping students practice staying calm, observant, and respectful while learning techniques that can make future clinical situations much less intimidating.
One of the best parts of experiences like this is knowing that these hands-on lessons truly matter in the future. As future Registered Veterinary Technicians, students may one day work with exotic pets, wildlife, or nervous owners who need reassurance, and having early exposure to safe handling, species behavior, and confidence-building can make a real difference in practice.
Having graduates return to Maple Woods Veterinary Technology Program to share how much they have grown since graduation also reminds current students that learning does not stop after the classroom — it keeps growing with every patient, every challenge, and every new species you meet.
We appreciate all of you for coming back, sharing your knowledge, and helping shape the next generation of RVTs — one scale, shell, leg, and exoskeleton at a time 🐢🦎🕸️✨

👀 They say the eyes are the window to the soul… and at Maple Woods Veterinary Program, our students got a full tour thanks to some amazing eye experts! No need to “blink” or look away—this was one event you don’t want to miss! 😄🐾
We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Straw, DVM, Dr. Steve Sisler, DVM, DACVO – Vitreoretinal Surgeon, and Jessica Quin RVT from Eye Care for Animals. They brought their knowledge, tools, and passion for animal eye care straight into our classrooms and labs!
Students learned about the conditions that can affect an animal’s eyes, how these issues are diagnosed, and the treatments available. They also got hands-on experience using the specialized ophthalmic tools while practicing proper techniques for examining animals’ eyes. And yes, there were plenty of “pupil checks” and “eye-opening” moments along the way! 👁️🐶🐱
From reviewing photos of real cases to trying out the tools themselves, our students had a blast exploring this fascinating field. A huge thank you to Dr. Straw, Dr. Sisler, and Jessica for sharing your time, expertise, and for making learning so fun. You truly helped our students see the possibilities in veterinary medicine—pun intended! 😄
We can’t wait to welcome you back for another “eye-opening” experience! 👓💙
