Look what's cooking in our Green Sea Turtle classroom! 🍕🍕🍕
Our little chefs have been busy learning all about food and cooking, and last week they put their skills to the test! Decked out in tiny chef hats and aprons, the kiddos rolled up their sleeves and created their very own delicious pizzas.
Not only that, but they got to meet a REAL chef, the one and only Ms. Alida, who cooks breakfast and lunch for the children in our Day Treatment program every day.
Great job, Green Sea Turtles!

Happy Children’s Day from The Children’s Place!
Today, we celebrate the laughter, imagination and endless possibilities that make childhood so magical. We also acknowledge the work that continues to be done to ensure that all children are able to grow up healthy and happy.
We celebrated Children's Day with the children in our Day Treatment program on Friday with a special treat of root beer floats and a fun movie day in celebration of the amazing children we get to work with each day.
Here’s to celebrating the joy, wonder, and bright futures of these amazing kiddos!

🩷 Heart for Hope 🩷
We wanted to shine the spotlight on our new friend Vic Wavada, who is a true champion for children and families in our community. Vic started his involvement with The Children's Place earlier this year when he was assigned as a CASA volunteer (Court-Appointed Special Advocate through our friends at Jackson County MO CASA ) with a child in our Day Treatment program.
Vic was quick to chip in after that, becoming a Healing Hero monthly donor, sponsoring entire weeks of our food pantry program covering food for 30+ backpacks, and clearing our school supply list to send our graduates off to kindergarten with all the tools they need.
Most recently, Vic stopped by with his second delivery this spring of plants and flowers for our staff.
Thank you to Vic for being a true Heart for Hope and helping in any and all ways for children in our community. We are so grateful for you!

What does play therapy look like? Sometimes it looks MESSY!
This delightful mess was the result after a child's very first therapy session earlier this week after starting in our Day Treatment program. In play therapy, we say that play is our first language and toys are our words. Play therapy brings these ideas together to give young children the chance to tell their stories and heal from their pasts.
Through the mess and all, healing is happening.

What an unforgettable day we had yesterday at the The Kansas City Chiefs First Look event with the Hunt Family Foundation! We are honored to share that The Children's Place was once again selected by the Hunt Family Foundation to receive a grant in support of our Day Treatment program, one of just 18 organizations selected this year.
A few members of our team got to attend along with a family we serve for this once-in-a-lifetime first peek at the Chiefs ahead of the fall season.
Thank you so much, Hunt Family Foundation, and go Chiefs!

Meet Rudy Bear!
Rudy Bear is the heart and symbol of The Children’s Place, welcoming every child and family who walks through our doors. Named after Mr. Rudy Liggins, a beloved educator who dedicated 40 years+ to teaching here, Rudy Bear represents comfort, care and belonging.
From the very first greeting to the final day of services, Rudy Bear is a familiar, reassuring presence for kiddos. And when a child completes their journey at The Children’s Place, they receive their very own plush Rudy Bear as a special reminder that the same friendly face who welcomed them will continue to support them as they take their next steps.
Because at The Children's Place, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, supported and never alone.

Who says therapy can’t be fabulous? Duo Dog Coleman brought some flair and couture when he donned a feather boa during a recent Counseling Center session.
Coleman's friend was able to take him on a walk throughout our building, and he even saw her out the door, watching her longingly as she left.
