What happens when education leaders step into a school where creativity is part of the curriculum every single day?
This spring, EdOps visited AFIA and got to experience firsthand how arts integration, collaboration, and a whole-child approach come together to help students truly thrive.
The highlight? Our peer models collaborated with our visitors and created tableau that showcased their creativity, teamwork, and leadership in a way that left everyone inspired.
Thank you to EdOps for everything you do to support our school throughout the school year. It was treat to host you and see you working with our students. We loved opening our doors and sharing what makes AFIA so special. ๐จ๐

AFIA's Royals' Champion Michael Wacha and Sarah Wacha visited AFIA's 3rd graders today! Michael Wacha reminded our students that it is important to always do their best and to read everyday. We appreciate the The Kansas City Royals Foundation , Michael Wacha, Sarah Wacha, and everyone from the Royals Literacy League. We are grateful to have the support from the Royals Literacy League, the best baseball team, and pitcher in the league. Let's go Royals!

At AFIA, we are committed to strong growth for all students
Hereโs what that looks like at AFIA
๐ Top 99th in Missouri for math student growth ( #5 out of 1,005 schools)
๐ Top 89th in Missouri for ELA student growth
๐ฌ Top 95th in Missouri for science student growth
โญ 82.3% APR โ highest in 3 years
And it goes deeper โ AFIA is also beating the odds, ranking among the top schools for growth in high-poverty communities.
These arenโt just numbers. They show students accelerating โ many catching up faster than expected.
Because proficiency is just a snapshot. Growth is the real story.

On Monday, Kenya Martin (https://www.kenyamartin.com) visited AFIA to talk to our 3rd - 6th grade students at our MAP test kick-off assembly. Ms. Martin shared inspiration with students and reminded them that it takes perservance and hard work to succeed. Our students are on day three of MAP testing and they are working hard! We are proud of them for persevering and doing their best on the test!
Next week, 3rd - 6th grade students will take the math MAP test. As Ms. Martin shared with students, we urge everyone to: "Get your rest... to do your best... on the test."
