Last week, we spotted some of our teachers enjoying Teacher Night at the K!

Thank you Kansas City Royals for dedicating an entire night to celebrate teachers! They pour so much time, energy, and passion into their careers and deserve all the celebration and recognition we can offer.

Thank you to our friends at AT&T for the generous book donation! Our summer school students were so excited to pick out a brand new book to take home and enjoy with their families!!

We had a special visitor at Summer School last week! It's safe to say that our students enjoyed meeting Ms. Mia's puppy.

Our school leaders and new Literacy Instructional Coach are collaborating with other schools across Kansas City to increase student literacy.

We are proud of all of our staff who were honored by The Educator Academy last week!

Our 5th Grade Math teacher, Mr. Darin Kennedy, was named Resident of the Year.

Our 2nd Grade Teacher, Ms. Ashli Carter, received the Core Value Award for Justice.

Our 1st Grade Teacher, Ms. Lauryn Lewis, received the Core Value Award for Community.

Congratulations to these teachers who bring leadership and quality instruction to their classrooms everyday. We are lucky to have them as part of our team!

School Starts on August 13th! We are enrolling new and returning students for our 2026-27 School Year! Now is a great time to ensure your student has a place to grow and learn next year.

We have already assigned homeroom classrooms to enrolled students and a transportation sign-up email will be going to enrolled families later this summer.

We have space available in our PreK, Kindergarten and First Grade classrooms and limited spaces available in all other grades.

Our Brookside Virtual Academy is still enrolling for all grade levels! Our BVA serves Kindergarten-8th grade students with live virtual instruction daily. The curriculum matches our in-person school and is a great opportunity for families who are interested in a learning from home. We provide all technology, supplies, and teachers to ensure your student receives the same quality education they would in a traditional school setting.

Our Staff celebrations aren't over yet! Mr. Kennedy, our 5th Grade Math Teacher and one of our The Educator Academy Resident Teachers, is the EA Resident of the Year!

The Educator Academy helps train and coach adults who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching. They offer an intensive, year-long program where Resident Teachers receive hands on training in classrooms across Kansas City. We host several residents each school year. At the end of the school year, they choose a Resident of the Year and Mr. Kennedy was selected for this honor.

Congratulations, Mr. Kennedy! We are excited for you to continue providing high quality education to our Brookside Charter School 5th graders!
