LPS Science Focus Program

A trip to Conestoga Lake sharpened LPS Science Focus Program students' field research skills this spring by monitoring the lake's water quality! Dozens of students traveled to rural Lancaster County to learn about the scientific principles of water health, where representatives from Lower Platte South NRD, Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment, Nebraska Water Center and The Flatwater Group partnered with LPS to provide fun and interactive lessons!

Congratulations to these eight LPS Science Focus Program students for producing professional-level research projects this spring at the Nebraska Junior Academy of Sciences State Science Fair, held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln East Campus Union! They conducted original research, analyzed data, wrote detailed papers and produced polished posters about their topics. You should all be so proud of your hard work! 🏆

We adventured to Conestoga Lake today for an Aquatic Ecology BioBlitz! Shout out to Lower Platte South NRD, NDWEE, Know Your Well, UNL Outdoor Adventures, and Gordon Coke with the Flatwater Group for providing your expertise! We had a GREAT day!

Advanced Geology students spent time today at Schramm Park Geologic Outcrop understanding how changes in sea level are reflected in the rock record. They also hunted for fossils in the 300 million years old limestones.

What an amazing day at the Nebraska Junior Academy of Science state research competition! 8 SFP students were judged and given feedback from professional researchers!
