"My favorite part of this role has been the different ways I've been able to interact with students. It was so rewarding to learn about students' goals and the skills they wanted to develop for future internships and job opportunities." πŸ“šπŸ’‘

For nearly three years, Kaitlynn Johnson has helped connect students with valuable career development opportunities as the graduate research assistant for University Career Services. Yanori Fixdal came to Career Services with a clear goal: to explore opportunities in public health. With hard work and guidance from our career coaches, Yanori secured an internship with the Department of Health and Human Services. 🧬

During the internship, Yanori traveled to the Nebraska Public Health Conference in La Vista, Nebraska, where they met keynote speaker Dr. Peter Lovatt, a former professional dancer and academic psychologist.

β€œHe spoke about the power of dance in creating healthier communities and authored The Dancing Cure,” Yanori shared. β€œMeeting him was one of the most meaningful parts of this internship.”

The best part of any conference isn't the ideas you bring home. It's the people who inspire them! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’‘

This week at the National Association of Colleges and Employers Conference, Rachel Larson has been connecting with career services professionals from across the country while proudly representing our University Career Services team. A standout moment of the conference for her was the opportunity to present several prestigious awards, including the Mentor of the Year Award, Northwestern Mutual Rising Star Award, Employer Recruiting Champion Award, and Mackes Leadership Award.

We're especially grateful for moments like these that remind us how much progress is possible when passionate people come together around a shared purpose: helping students succeed.

Congratulations to all of this year's award recipients on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for the work you do to support student success and strengthen our profession. Your leadership, dedication, and commitment to student success are creating ripple effects that will be felt for years to come.
