Monday, I got to meet two wonderful rascals - Georgia and her daughter Peaches. Time and time again I’m reminded of the profound healing power of animals wild or domesticated. While frolicking with these two, I was also reminded of the simplicity of both kindness and grace.

Uncle Goggle defines a stranger as “someone you do not know or are not acquainted with”. Georgia and Peaches come from a loving family with a vibrant history of dogs, primarily FCRs and GRs. I was welcomed into their home not as a stranger, though I was, but as an animal lover and a FCR fan (stay tuned for more on this) with kindness, pictures, ice tea and great stories.

In my work, the veil between stranger and familiar is thinner than most. One can learn a lot about people in 5 minutes and what we learn can heal or hurt. Further, that 5 minutes can grow into something really nice and often does. So many of us have become strange - to ourselves, to each other, to family, to friends and to community but it doesn’t always have to be that way, not really. Here at LAP, things are easy and familiar in a basic way, like authenticity, kindness or belonging. It’s a cool place to chill out and let acupuncture do the work alongside others. Pop on in, feel less like a stranger and more like a familiar - we’d all love to see you. Shadow

It’s always really cool to see parents supporting their children and it’s extra cool for me when that involves acupuncture.

Let’s talk about sports again! Here’s an amazing Mom with her son who’s a talented wide receiver for his local high school. (Go go WR6!) National Institutes of Health studies conclude adolescent football players showed a significant decrease in DOMS (muscle soreness) over the duration of 5 days without adverse effects or compromising their wellbeing. Further, flexibility and muscle function improved while competitive anxiety decreased. Research also highlighted treating acute conditions (calf cramping or minor sprains) with acupuncture on the sideline/field in a high school training environment is not only feasible but also safe and effective. (Awesome)

If you yourself parent a sporty kid or know someone who does or knows a young person who competes in sports, let them know about acupuncture or pop in with them, they absolutely will benefit. .6

Hello lovely people! LAP is searching for a couple of canes for the clinic’s Grab a Cane, Leave a Cane. If you’re looking to rehome a cane or cleaning out your belongings or know someone who has an extra cane just looking to be used, please bring it along at your next appointment or pop in and drop it off.
It’s amazing how easy it is to really really help someone out by just passing something along. Thanks in advance - we can’t do any of this without you.

After a fall, a little reassuring touch certainly goes a long way. So do these tiny needles. Pop on in if you need a hand, we’d love to have you.

Last week I had the chance to treat a couple of Ohio State Buckeyes before the 2026 NCAA Track and Field Championships here in LNK. It’s cool because acupuncture really does help athletes in a bunch of different ways like accelerating recovery and healing, improving sleep, managing pain and injuries, improving both flexibility and mobility, supporting the immune system and working on the fight or flight response, aka regulating the nervous system.

It’s always an honor and a lot of fun to treat college athletes. They train very hard - striving to reach their goals while balancing academic requirements, college culture, endorsements (for some), social media (for most), the stressors of their own personal lives, along with the expectations cities and towns put on both individuals and teams to perform and possibly win a bit more each and every outing - they sure do have a lot on their plates. Thanks for popping in guys - best of luck in all of your endeavors, keep reaching for the stars:)

Here’s to another great 4 week session with veterans in collaboration with AtEase. Don’t forget, if you yourself are a veteran or you know, support and love veterans, AtEase offers great programs in both Lincoln and Omaha. I appreciate that AtEase has included the clinic and community acupuncture as an option in their programs that promote “well being, resiliency and connection”. Thanks again for the opportunity!

Look who made it in today! It’s always fun to see little ones and, it’s true, occasionally the quiet baby can hang out with mom, just resting and napping here at LAP.

Here at LAP, migraines are, unfortunately, a frequent complaint. Help is on the way though as recent clinical outcomes continue to demonstrate measurable improvements following acupuncture treatment.

Researchers at the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Medicine studied 120 adults ages 18-65 diagnosed with migraine (no aura present) randomly assigning them real acupuncture or sham acupuncture. Patients received 12 treatments over 4 weeks, 3 sessions weekly, every other day. In addition, they were required to record migraine frequency, pain intensity and duration along with any medication used in a diary during this period. Patients who received real acupuncture experienced less migraines per month, decreased headache days, lower pain intensity and less need for medication. No sham acupuncture here - pop on in and get the Real Stuff.
