Big ideas deserve a seat at the table.
We're excited to welcome Jon Humiston (Umbrella Photo Booth) to the Lincoln Arts Council Board of Directors.
As the founder and creative director of Humiston Studios, Jon has spent more than a decade helping organizations tell their stories through photography, immersive experiences, and innovative event activations. His work has connected thousands of people through creativity, technology, and community engagement.
Jon brings an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for the arts, and a belief that a thriving creative culture makes Lincoln a stronger, more vibrant city for everyone.
We're thrilled to have Jon on board at the Lincoln Arts Council. He's going to bring a fresh perspective and lots of enthusiasm to the table, which is exactly what we need to keep pushing the arts scene in Lincoln forward. With Jon's help, we're looking forward to developing innovative ways to take LAC to the next level.

Studying the arts is bigger than the humanities. They can help kids learn science, too. Teaching artist Michael Reinmiller led Riley Elementary kids on an exploration of light and time at an after-school club focused on long-exposure photography.
There are multiple intelligences, and you can support them all with just one link. It's Give to Lincoln Day all week long: https://givetolincoln.com/nonprofits/lincoln-arts-council

🎭👯♀️One of our most rewarding CarestArt projects is a musical theatre experience for adults with developmental disabilities. It's a partnership with VITAL Services, Inc. and Lincoln Children's Theatre, who we hire to work with the men and women to create a show. They're working on it as we speak and are preparing for a fun, informal performance at Vital Services on May 28.
Here's a pic from the last show 😍

Jackson was the only student who came to every one of Danny Reneau’s after-school art classes at Brownell Elementary. He wouldn’t have missed it for the world and was the most focused and ready to paint. He was respectful and well-behaved, causing no disruptions. He was there to paint, with dedication.
On Danny’s last day, he was struck by what one of Jackson’s teachers told him: that he came from a troubled home and had constant behavior issues. He was often in trouble and frequently found himself in the principal’s office. Both Danny and the teacher were shocked by their different experiences with Jackson at the art club.
The arts heal. They give struggle a calm voice and solace to pain. Help support the arts by giving to Give to Lincoln Day in the comments.
