We all enjoyed our videoconference with Laura Londono who has had a career dedicated to the defense and protection of constitutional rights. She has served the Public Defender’s Office since 2011. Specializing in high-stakes criminal litigation, she brings over a decade of experience in navigating the complexities of the justice system. Throughout her tenure, she has managed an extensive portfolio of serious criminal trial matters, including homicides and violent crimes, sexual assault cases, gang-related investigations, robberies and felony offenses. Working in close coordination with defense attorneys, her primary mission is to provide an independent check on law enforcement proceedings. By meticulously reviewing police investigations and discovery, she works hand in hand to ensure all procedures were conducted effectively and that the client’s legal rights remain fully protected. Her technical and field operations include evidence gathering, serving subpoenas, canvassing for critical video surveillance footage, field Interviews, conducting comprehensive interviews with victims, witnesses, and involved parties. As a Correctional Facility Liaison, she facilitates essential communications and evidence gathering with individuals detained at correctional facilities. Beyond criminal defense, she possesses specialized experience in the Division of Child Protection and Permanency related investigations. During this time, she assisted attorneys representing parents in pending child welfare cases, applying her investigative expertise to help families navigate sensitive legal challenges.
