Around here, Fridays are one of our favorite days!
Why? Because they are FACT FRIDAYS!
We do know there have been some concerns about the speed at which COVID-19 vaccines were developed and approved, so we wanted to share some information with our community to help everyone better understand the timeline.
We started with an advantage.
Typically it takes 10-15 years to develop a vaccine. But with research already focused on previous Coronaviruses, no financial struggles, and a larger number of people working on solely COVID-19 vaccines, we were able to drastically reduce the timeline for development & approval.
The accelerated process for vaccine approval allows for shorter timeframe, but it does not reduce the number of safety checks made throughout the process. The speed has more to do with the development and manufacturing processes and less to do with the trials and safety measures.
