On World Ocean Day, The Islands Of Tahiti Show That Conservation And Tourism Go Hand In Hand 06/08/2026

World Oceans Day is celebrated annually on June 8 to raise awareness of the conservation efforts of the world’s oceans. French Polynesia, a tourism hotspot, has the largest Marine Protected Area in the world. By integrating ocean protection into its long-term tourism development strategy, French Polynesia is an example of how ocean conservation and tourism can complement each other.

On World Ocean Day, The Islands Of Tahiti Show That Conservation And Tourism Go Hand In Hand By caring for its oceans, French Polynesia also draws visitors to its 118 islands. The Islands of Tahiti can serve as a model for merging conservation with tourism.
