This is Futures in Tune in action.
Students in Los Angeles share the song they wrote and then across the world in South Africa, they get a chance to watch and learn it too.
Through this small exchange kids get connected across cultures, learn from one another and become a part of the Futures in Tune global community- all because of music!
“You won’t be here in South Africa the rest of your life. You’ll have to visit other countries…”
We teach music and dance not just for exposure to the arts, but to prepare students for global life. By fostering cultural understanding and empathy today we’re helping our students become confident global citizens of the future!
Last month South Africa challenged us to try out the Gumboots dance. They’re back this month with the steps to a traditional Zulu dance called Ukusina.
They’re break it down step by step so everyone can join in, no matter where you are.
Show us your moves and we’ll post more when our other FIT sites get the chance to try it out!

Our Futures in Tune Los Angeles students at are hard at work prepping for their end of year show in a couple short weeks!
Here’s a sneak peek at the original song they’ll be performing.
We’re so excited for them to take the stage and share the creativity and confidence they’ve been building this year!
Laura is playing an accompaniment while students explore just the black keys.
She wants them to understand there’s so much beginners can do there, no lessons necessary!
Pretty quickly they learn they can make their own music and it actually sounds good.
Creating moments where kids feel safe to try new things and get creative without fear of “doing it wrong” is where confidence starts to grow.
Have a keyboard laying around? Try it for yourself and let us know how it goes in the comments!
We’re challenging you this time. Learn the steps, tag us in your video. Who’s next?

Full circle moments like this!
A couple of our graduates in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa are back, but this time as mentors. They are helping lead choir and introducing recorder to our current students.
From students to teachers, they’re passing on skills, confidence and a love of music.
This is how our community keeps on growing!
This is everything.
Kids are naturally musical beings, it’s already in them. When they’re given the chance to create their own songs, rhythms, and movement, they start to see that they’re not just learning music…they’re capable of making it. And staying true to Futures in Tune, they wanted to celebrate all the different ways we say hello. 👋🏼 😊

We just wrapped up a Zoom call with a few of our site leads where so many heartfelt stories were shared.
We just wanted to pass along a couple moments that really capture what this program is all about: real kids, building genuine connections and creating lasting impact in their communities.
