Boom Chicka Rocka! Our ska-inspired Ladybug version of this classic chant is always a favorite.

At Ladybug Music, our baby, toddler, and preschool music classes introduce children to a wide variety of musical styles, including jazz, calypso, folk, reggae, samba, and ska. Exploring different genres helps children develop musical skills while keeping music class fresh, engaging, and fun for the whole family.

Songs like Boom Chicka Rocka also support important gross motor development. Twisting, jumping, stomping, and moving to the beat help children practice coordination, balance, body awareness, and motor planning through play.

In our family music classes, children learn by listening, watching, imitating, and participating at their own pace. What looks like fun is also building the foundation for movement, musical learning, confidence, and self-expression.

Looking for baby, toddler, or preschool music classes in Los Angeles? We’d love to make music with your family this summer.

Every Ladybug class ends with a full lullaby.

For some children, it’s an instant cue to snuggle into a mat, cuddle with a grown-up, and listen. For others, it takes a little longer to transition. They may keep moving, exploring, or watching from a distance before settling in.

That is all part of the learning process.

Young children thrive on predictable routines, and our lullaby provides a gentle signal that class is winding down. Over time, these musical cues help children develop self-regulation, anticipation, listening skills, and a sense of security within the group.

At Ladybug Music, we know that every child experiences music differently. Some jump right in. Some observe first. Some need extra time to shift gears. We make room for all of it.

Music class, toddler activities, baby music classes, preschool music, early childhood development, parent-child classes, family music classes, social-emotional learning, rhythm, movement, and joyful learning all come together in these small moments.

The adults keep the beat, and the children are learning how it feels.

One of the most important parts of early childhood music education isn’t asking children to perform a skill right away. It’s giving them repeated opportunities to experience it.

In our music classes, children learn steady beat, rhythm, coordination, listening skills, and musical timing by participating alongside trusted grown-ups. Some children jump right in. Others watch, listen, and absorb before they’re ready to join. Both are valuable parts of the learning process.

Over time, those shared musical experiences help build confidence, rhythm skills, and a lifelong connection to music.

Before children can sing all the words, we give them a way to sing along.

At Ladybug Music, we often guide families to sing simple sounds like “la la,” “ba ba,” “mm mm,” or “da da.” These are called vocables, and they help young children participate in the music before they have the full lyrics.

This is one of the reasons we teach the way we teach. Singing is not about performance. It is about listening, joining in, finding your voice, and building musical confidence little by little.

Summer is a beautiful time to begin your child’s musical journey. Join us for an early childhood music class filled with singing, movement, rhythm, instruments, and original Ladybug Music songs.

In our baby classes, even the simplest activities are full of meaning.

With the scarf moving above them, babies are watching faces, listening to voices, tracking movement, and feeling the comfort of being close to their grown-up.

Peekaboo, singing, gentle rhythm, and eye contact all help babies feel safe, connected, and ready to explore the world through music.

Come try a Ladybug Music baby class and experience the sweetness of music, movement, and connection together.

There is so much learning happening in moments like these. Exploring the drums, listening to the beat, watching the grownups play, and finding a way to join in are all part of the musical experience.

In this activity, we were exploring a 6/8 rhythm feel, a gentle, flowing beat pattern that children experience through movement, instrument play, and repetition long before they understand musical terms.

At Ladybug Music, music learning often looks like joy, play, movement, and community first… and the learning grows naturally from there. 🥁✨

Ladybug Music has been around for a long time. 💛

This photo was taken 22 years ago, back when I was teaching early childhood music classes with a guitar, a circle of families, and a deep love for music and connection.

Over the years, those little classes slowly grew into Ladybug Music, and somehow the joy of it still feels exactly the same! ❤️❤️❤️
