Last week, we gathered to celebrate our graduating class as they complete their nursery through elementary journey and carry everything they’ve learned here out into the world. As Director Joe reminded us with the words of educator Keesa Marks, “Childhood is sacred, nature is restorative, play is revolutionary.” For 75 years, that has been our north star and this graduating class carries it forward beautifully. Congratulations to the Class of 2026 and to the extraordinary teachers who show up every single day to make the magic happen. 🎓

Where children are free to play and learn!

A night to remember at Play Mountain Place! 🌙 Students camped out in tents around the yard, danced the night away at a glow-in-the-dark dance party, and made s’mores by the fire. The campus sleepover gave children a chance to make joyful memories in a place they know and love.

Working with art at Play Mountain Place! 🎨Children work with clay, explore materials, and create freely around the yard. The focus stays on the process, giving them space to experiment, follow their ideas, and enjoy the simple fun of making something with their hands.

Each year, our oldest students mark the end of their Upper Elementary journey with a two-day camping trip to Malibu Creek State Park, funded through the bagel sales the students organize throughout the school year. The trip gives students time to explore nature, share new experiences, and strengthen the bonds they have built over the years. For those graduating, it is a meaningful final adventure together before they begin their next chapter beyond Play Mountain Place.
Each year, our Elementary Group heads to Mount Baldy for a beloved overnight camping tradition hosted by longtime PMP community member and school architect Gregg Fleishman. With the guidance of Co-Head Teacher Nelly and their teachers, students stepped outside their comfort zones, practiced independence, and connected with one another in new ways. The trip gave the students space to trust themselves and strengthen their group bond.

This past weekend, more than 200 community members showed up and showed out for one of Play Mountain Place’s most beloved traditions, the Spring Bazaar. With 28 student-run booths, live music, performances, handmade goods, food, drinks, and plenty of confetti eggs, the day was full of creativity and community.
Proceeds from the Bazaar support our scholarship program, but at its heart, this tradition is about joy, learning, entrepreneurial spirit, and children feeling free. Thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible.
