LAFCI joins our community in mourning the loss of alumnus and friend, Mark Smythe. We first met Mark in 2017 during the first LAFCI Summer Session workshop in Bulgaria, where this photo is from. Mark was a brilliant talent and a genuine friend to all, a true pillar in our scoring community.
During the pandemic, Mark generously joined our 2020 New Music Project to support new repertoire for our music community during a time of great uncertainty and when most traditional pieces could not be performed. Please enjoy Moto Revivo by Mark Smythe, performed by Christchurch Symphony Orchestra harpist, Helen Webby.

Godspeed, Mark, and thank you for sharing your joy for music and life with us all. We are all far better for having crossed your path.
