Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures in our Westside Waldorf community! 🌿✨ Before summer break, our kindergartners carefully crafted these beautiful wire-wrapped paperweights using natural materials and glass beads. 🛠️💎 The focus and care they put into each piece reflects the beautiful guidance of the fathers in their lives. 👋💛 We are deeply grateful for our Waldorf dads—thank you for volunteering, supporting our classrooms, and building a stronger, closer community this year! 🌱

Celebrating Our 8th Grade Graduates 🎓💚

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our beloved 8th grade graduates for completing their journey at Westside Waldorf School! The graduation ceremony was a deeply moving occasion, featuring touching farewells from teachers, heartfelt expressions of gratitude and joy from parents, and thoughtful speeches from each graduate reflecting on their experiences at Westside and their aspirations for the future. The ceremony also included a special performance of “I Will Carry You, Little Lamb,” lovingly sung by our dedicated faculty. 🌿🍃

These graduates have embarked on a truly unique journey. From navigating Covid closures and learning in a tiny home pod to facing the challenges of a campus lost to fire, their resilience, determination, and grace under pressure have shaped them into the remarkable leaders and learners they are today. As they set off for high school and beyond, they do so with the confidence and strength to embrace life’s joys and challenges. We could not be prouder of them. 💚🌱 Congratulations, WWS class of 2026!

As summer officially begins, our dedicated faculty and staff gathered for a fabulous end-of-year celebration at Santa Monica’s beloved Cha Cha Chicken! We indulged in delicious Caribbean cuisine, enjoyed lively music, and shared countless “cheers” as we reflected on the amazing achievements of our students and the strong bonds we’ve formed working together over the years. A heartfelt thank you to Cha Cha Chicken for hosting our beautiful event. Wishing everyone a joyful and sunny summer! 🌞🎉🍹🌴

A Warm Farewell at the Westside Waldorf School 🌞Yesterday, we bid a fond farewell for the summer for our early childhood and grades families, embracing the cherished Waldorf traditions that unite our community with love, reflection, and gratitude. In the nursery and kindergartens, parents were warmly welcomed into the classrooms for a delightful puppet story performance of “Mama Panya’s Pancakes,” a tale of a family that always finds “a little bit, and a little bit more” to share with friends. As is tradition, the children sang the opening verse to start the puppet show, gently guiding everyone to “dream land” through the story. As the performance concluded, their teachers serenaded the children into summer with “Sing your way home, at the end of the day,” while they received folders filled with their artwork from the year. 🎨

For our Grades 1 - 8 students, the year-end assembly was a wonderful chance to showcase their talents in Strings, Music, and World Languages, with performances from every grade. We wrapped up the year with a community picnic and a heartfelt goodbye cake for one of our beloved kindergarten assistant teachers, who is starting a new journey this summer. 🎻🍰

Sing along with us at the end of a transformative school year with the song that accompanies our annual Flame Jumping Ceremony, “Rise Up O Flame” 🔥Together with their teachers, our elementary and middle school students sing in one voice this beautiful tune that sends us off to summer and the next school year 🎶☀️

🌊Our nursery classes have been making waves with their final handwork project of the year: felted fishes! 🐠✨ The nursery classes, ages 2.5 to 4, have been busy wet felting vibrant wool around a round form, carding and stretching colorful fins, and (with teacher guidance) sewing wide mouths to create these adorable sea creatures.🐟 Much to the surprise and delight of the children, their masterpieces were showcased this morning on the class nature table (and hung above the kitchen) surrounded by nautical treasures, sending our young ones off to summer in celebration of their hard work. ☀️🏴‍☠️ They’ve also been diving into daily Circle time with pirate and ocean themes these last few weeks, setting sail for the warmer months soon ahead.
