Before the years spent competing across MLS, Liga MX, and the USL Championship, professional soccer player Rafa Baca was a student-athlete searching for the right place to grow.
“The moment I stepped onto LMU’s campus, I knew it was the right place for me,” Baca shared. “[LMU] reinforced the importance of putting God first, staying disciplined, and being consistent in everything I did not only in soccer, but also academically and personally.”
Those lessons stayed with him long after graduation. As he navigated the demands of professional soccer and competed for titles, the foundation he built at LMU remained a constant.
Recently inducted into the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame, Baca's journey is a testament to the impact of discipline and consistency, both on the field and beyond.

From Grammy-winning records to the Bluff 🎶
Khris Riddick-Tynes ’13, J.D. ’22 has spent his career helping shape music alongside artists like Ariana Grande, SZA, Drake, Kehlani, and Toni Braxton. Now, he's bringing that experience back to LMU.
Working alongside Professor Marne Campbell and a growing network of LMU students and alumni, Riddick-Tynes is helping create new pathways into the music industry through mentorship, internships, and a new interdisciplinary music course open to all students.
The results are already showing, with LMU students and alumni earning opportunities to contribute to major projects. Ashton Norful and Ryan Jenkins both worked on Kehlani's self-titled fifth studio album, with Norful producing three of its tracks and Jenkins serving as an A&R on the project.
From the recording studio to the classroom, this is what experiential learning looks like. 🦁🎵
