Special Games is a student-run organization serving individuals with physical and special needs.

Established in 1977 on the Loyola Marymount University campus, Special Games began as the LMU Special Olympics of 1978 sanctioned by California Special Olympics. When the games were finished the students of Loyola Marymount decided to build their own program, known today as Special Games. LMU is the first and only university to create, sponsor, and produce a community project of this magnitude. A

Hey guys! Welcome back and happy first semester!
Applications for the special games committee are now open and the link is in our bio. For those of you that are new, special games is a two weekend event in the spring where athletes of all ages, abilities, special needs, and backgrounds come together on campus to enjoy some non-competitive games and fun! As a committee member you would help set it up, and run it as a group. It’s a ton of fun and very rewarding and you get to make new friends ❤️ There are spots open in Marketing (alongside ), Events and Equipment, Volunteers, and Athlete coordinators. If you have any questions you can contact us at [email protected] or (310)338-2959

Tomorrow’s the Big day! We are so excited beyond belief and cannot wait to have some fun and bust a move. I am Lucy and my co marketing chair is Chase and we have been the ones in charge of all the posts, pictures, and flyers you see. Chase is 22, a senior entrepreneurship major, and can skate. He also only likes to eat cereal without milk?? I don’t get it but to each their own 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m Lucy and I’m 19 and a theatre major. I can chirp like bird and I know ASL! If you see me at the games and speak sign then come on over and say hi 👋🏻 Both of us can’t wait to hear the rad music that DJ PJ is throwing down! We are having the parade tomorrow and it’s going to be a blast. Don’t forget sunscreen and your banners if you made them! See you guys tomorrow 🤟🏻🤟🏻

Only 2 more days until Big day, woot woot! These boys are the athlete coordinators, Riley (left) and Zach (right). Riley is a junior economics major and 21 years old. Zach is a sophomore film production major and is 19 years old. Riley can speak Mandarin and Zach can sing the entire Russian national anthem! Since they both have been tirelessly processing the athletes applications and paperwork they are both most excited to meet the athletes themselves or see old friends. Special Games is going to be such a fun time and remember that we value everyone no matter your abilities. We cannot wait for Saturday and hope to see everyone there! 🤟🏻🤟🏻

These lovely ladies are the volunteer coordinators! Meet Kammy (right) who is 20 and a junior education major, and G (left) who is 19 and a political science major with her very own KLMU radio show on campus! Kammy has a special talent of only being able to do the worm backwards. Both are super sweet and can’t wait to get some cool pics in front of the chalk wall on Big day, which is only 3 days away! 🤟🏻🤟🏻

Big day is only 3 days away! Today’s co chairs are Corinne and Lily who run events and equipment. Lily (right) is a junior marketing major who is looking forward to showing her best dance moves on Big day and rocking out to DJ Pablo’s sick beats. Corinne (left) is a 22 year old, senior biology major who got to intern with a vet last summer in rural France! How cool is that?! Did you know that one of Lily’s professors did the score of the movie The Room? 🙌🏻 Those are pretty cool but not as cool as Big day is going to be especially since is performing at lunch! Can’t wait 🤟🏻🤟🏻

Practice day was a success! Thanks to everyone who came out and had fun! Meet Isabella and Joanna, Special Games’ very own fundraising co-chairs. They are both sophomores and 19! Isabella (left) is an Accounting and Finance major who loves watching hockey, baseball, basketball, football, and is looking forward to seeing everyone’s dance moves. Joanna (right) is a Health and Human Sciences major who likes to surf and cannot get enough of the 90’s theme. 🤟🏻🤟🏻

You would think it be just a regular throwback Thursday but today I would like to introduce you to the Co-Directors of the Special Games committee, Christina (left) and Kaleigh (right)! Christina is 22, a senior animation major with a studio arts minor and played club lacrosse at LMU. What she is most looking forward to at the games are the snow cones. 🍧 Kaleigh is 21, a senior psychology and Spanish double major, and if she could only eat 1 food for the rest of her life it would be French Toast. What she is most looking forward to at this year’s games is the parade on Big day! 🤟🏻🤟🏻
