🏆 Best of Term - Texturing & Shading (Winter 2026)

"This project helped me get more comfortable with building materials and different shaders, and taught me new techniques such as creating flexible beveled edge wear that could be reused across the scene."

Gnomon Certificate in Digital Production student Alice Chui created this eerie forgotten Victorian farmhouse environment in our Texturing and Shading for Games 2 course. Sitting in an open grassy landscape, the piece focuses on modularity, material creation and blending, and custom foliage. The shots are designed to build a subtle, creepy atmosphere and story.

One of Alice's biggest challenges was getting her worn materials to feel believable without becoming repetitive, too clean, or too busy. Through multiple rounds of adjustments to her materials, vertex painting, and breakup, she found a balance where everything felt natural and readable.

Congratulations, Alice!

🏆 Best of Term | Props & Weapons (Winter 2026)

"I have learned so much throughout the making of this project, from how to bake the assets to keep them optimized to generating procedural assets with Unreal Engine blueprints."

Gnomon Certificate in Digital Production student Ray Yeh created this Alien-inspired damaged corridor environment across multiple courses.

This was Ray's first time building an environment and creating a cinematic in Unreal Engine. The piece aims to honor the Alien franchise through iconic props, atmospheric environment design, and a tension-filled, eerie mood.

Congratulations, Ray!
