I used to think
If I just became better... practiced more... studied harder...
everything else would eventually fall into place.
But after spending my entire life in music, I’ve learned that some of the most talented artists I’ve ever met are also some of the most overlooked.
Because talent alone isn’t what creates opportunities.
People need to know you exist.
They need to experience your work.
They need to connect with you.
And perhaps most importantly...
you have to be willing to be seen.
For years, I thought art and business were separate things.
Now I see them differently.
Your creativity is the art.
Learning how to share it, value it, and receive opportunities through it is the business.
Both matter.
And if you’ve ever felt like there’s a part of you that wants to be seen, but another part that wants to stay hidden...
you’re not alone.
In my experience, that’s where the real work begins.

Magnetic Artist Method
From starving to magnetic: guiding artists into alignment, abundance, and freedom.
I used to think if I just worked harder, practiced more, learned more, or manifested harder, eventually everything I wanted would happen.
But one of the biggest shifts in my career came when I realized that wanting something and feeling safe receiving it are two very different things.
You can want bigger opportunities, more income, dream clients, sold-out shows, or more visibility as an artist... and still have a part of you that feels uncomfortable with it.
Not because you’re lazy.
Not because you’re not talented.
But because it’s unfamiliar.
And our nervous systems are wired to keep us in what’s familiar.
For me, learning how to expand what felt safe changed everything.
That’s a huge part of why I created Magnetic Artist Method. It’s the framework I’ve developed through my own journey as an artist to help creatives move beyond the starving artist mindset and build the identity, beliefs, and internal safety needed to receive more abundance, opportunities, and fulfillment in their careers.

So i used to think the starving artist virus looked like financial struggle.
And sometimes it does.
But looking back, I don’t think the financial struggle was the root.
I think it was the symptom.
The root was believing I wasn’t ready.
Believing I wasn’t good enough.
Believing I needed more training, more proof, more qualifications before I could take the next step.
After more than 15 years of studying violin, I still didn’t think I was qualified to teach beginner students.
Not because I lacked the skills.
Because I had been taught I wasn’t there yet.
And that’s the tricky thing about the starving artist virus.
It rarely says:
“You can’t.”
More often, it says:
“Not yet.”
And “not yet” can keep artists stuck for years.
Waiting.
Preparing.
Perfecting.
While opportunities pass them by.

Symptoms of the Starving Artist Virus:
☐ You feel guilty charging what you’re worth.
☐ You wait until you’re “good enough” before putting yourself out there.
☐ You secretly believe struggling makes you a more legitimate artist.
☐ You feel uncomfortable receiving money, praise, or opportunities.
☐ You work harder every year, but abundance still feels just out of reach.
You secretly judge other successful artists
☐ You believe art and business are somehow opposites.
If you checked even one of these...
don’t panic 🤍
It doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.
It might just mean you’ve been operating from a program you never consciously chose.

I thought the answer to my artistic success would just be - work harder.
But eventually I started asking a different question:
What if some of the beliefs I had about being an artist weren’t actually mine?
What if they were inherited?
The idea that artists are supposed to struggle.
That making money somehow makes you less authentic.
That suffering is proof you’re dedicated to your craft.
The more artists I talk to, the more I realize how deeply these beliefs can run.
And its not because we’re consciously choosing them. But because we’ve heard them repeated for years.
And when those beliefs are running quietly in the background, they influence our pricing, opportunities, confidence, and the way we show up in our careers.
This is Part 1 of a series on the “Starving Artist” myth.
I’m curious...
What’s one belief about artists, money, or success that you’ve had to unlearn?

For years, I thought hard work was the answer to everything.
And to be fair, it got me pretty far.
It helped me leave home at 15. Move countries, build a career, create opportunities.
But eventually I realized something: the skills that help you survive aren’t always the skills that help you thrive.
At some point, I had to stop asking:
“How can I work harder?”
And start asking:
“Who do I need to become to receive the life I actually want?”
That question changed everything.

I didn’t become 10x more talented.
I stopped treating higher-paying opportunities like they were impossible.
The amount you want has to stop feeling shocking before it starts feeling normal.

For years, I thought my next level would come from learning more.
More strategy.
More tactics.
More information.
What changed the most wasn’t what I knew.
It was how I saw myself.
