ADAPTABILITY WEEK 3: The Position Change
Noah loved soccer and had always played forward. He liked scoring goals and being in the middle of the action.
One day, his coach announced that he would be playing defense for the rest of the season.
Noah was frustrated.
"I don't want to play defense," he complained. "That's not what I'm good at."
But the coach encouraged him to give it a chance.
At first, Noah struggled. The position felt unfamiliar, and he made mistakes. But he kept learning. He asked questions, practiced new skills, and slowly became more confident.
By the end of the season, Noah discovered he was actually a strong defender. More importantly, he learned that being adaptable allowed him to contribute to the team in new ways.
Sometimes the role you didn't want becomes the opportunity you needed.
Lesson: Adaptability means being willing to learn when circumstances change.

The kids don't always notice how much they've changed.
The parents do:
We are new to Alexander's and Karate... I will tell you I am very impressed so far with the organization. They are very organized, efficient, and consistent. All traits I admire in a company. They treat my grandson with respect, and it is obvious that the instructors all care about these kids. Every piece of communication, written, electronic or verbal has been excellent. This is an active place; there is always something going on... kudos!! Alexander's is creating the next great generation!! So glad we are a part of this program.
We just get to watch it happen up close. Lucky us.
Thanks to every family at Alexander's Martial Arts 🙏

After dinner he asked to come in early so he could practice his kicks for his next belt 🔥
A year ago we couldn't get him to put his uniform on without a fight.
Same boy. More focus. More fight in him. More determination.

Martial Arts for Family
Ten years after you start training with your 10 year old, you'll be...

We don't just put this on a poster.
Every class your child trains the muscle behind it — choosing the harder thing, one rep at a time.
That's how a kid grows up steadier than the one who started.

Parents,
Would you like your child to be more CONFIDENT?😎
How about developing BETTER FOCUS?🔍
What if they learn the SELF-DISCIPLINE to do what they need
WITHOUT BEING REMINDED?😀
The GREAT NEWS is all these things are SKILLS and CAN BE TAUGHT and TURNED INTO HABITS THROUGH PRACTICE! 🎓
Plus, it’s a TOTAL BLAST and it REDUCES ANXIETY!
Martial Arts can be great for kids when you find a school that focuses on personal development and growth!
👉 Since 2020, Alexander’s Martial Arts has been offering online, and hybrid classes (as well as an in-person program since 1993) designed to teach these skills and more!
Our online program offers:
✅ Three live interactive classes each week (with an instructor and a dedicated coach)
✅ Access to our online university of skills and recorded classes
✅ One-on-one extra-help classes to help ensure students reach their full potential
The Alexander’s Personal Development System is centered around the approach that we don’t “just teach martial arts”; we teach PEOPLE!
Our system works like this:
1️⃣ Set clear measurable goals.
2️⃣ Teach the skills needed to achieve those goals.
3️⃣ Use positive reinforcement to recognize progress (catch them making progress).
4️⃣ Challenge to improve skillset (growth mindset).
5️⃣ Celebrate success!
💯Confidence through competence and self-esteem through achievement give our students the power to achieve outside the karate school too!
🏆It might sound like our program is all about the “feels”. The emotional impact is important, but it also translates to excellence. We’ve produced over a dozen North American Champions since 1993.
This all sounds awesome, right?
👉 We’ve been North Alabama’s go to for personal development and martial arts training for over 30 years, and we’ve been bringing our program directly to families in their homes for the last 5 years via zoom classes!
Come see our system in action and judge for yourself. 🧑⚖️
All online members start with a PRIVATE ORIENTATION AND TWO WEEKS OF CLASSES where:
✅ Students learn basic self-defense skills.
✅ We introduce the Alexander’s System and help students set and achieve the goal of EARNING THEIR FIRST BELT.
✅ Parents get to see how we use clear goals and positive reinforcement to teach life skills like focus, discipline, and respect.
✅ Every student gets an evaluation so we can select the best program for your family.
✅ Students also get access to our online university and reference materials including skill tutorials and even one-on-one extra help as needed.
This package is valued at $99!

Three things you can do this week to help your child focus better at home.
One. Eye contact when you're giving instructions. Wait until they look at you before you speak.
Two. One task at a time. No "go brush your teeth and feed the dog and grab your shoes." Pick one. Finish. Then the next.
Three. Praise the effort, not the outcome. "You stayed with it" lands harder than "good job."
We use all three at Alexander's Martial Arts. They work.

He walked in nervous ✨
Last night he led the warm-up for the white belts and didn't blink.
Six weeks ago he wouldn't speak up in his own meetings.
