What a wonderful day of Exploring the Malden River ๐ฟ
Thank you to everyone who joined us last week at The Park at Riverโs Edge for a beautiful day by the water. The weather was gorgeous, the Malden River was shimmering and stunning, and the whole park was filled with energy and joy.
We had 24 vendor booths lined up along the river, offering something for everyone:
๐ Environmental education โ a series of hands-on activities to help our community learn more about protecting the green spaces and waterways around us. We were so grateful to partner with our friends at Friends of Malden River, Mystic River Watershed Association, and Malden Grows โ and to welcome a new friend, the Greening the Gateway Cities Program!
๐ Tui na (Chinese therapeutic massage) โ a chance to relax and unwind
๐ง Tai chi practice โ gentle movements to strengthen the body and calm the mind, plus free snacks to enjoy along the way
๐ฏ A variety of lawn games โ fun for kids and grown-ups alike
We loved seeing friends from all walks of life strolling, chatting, and laughing by the river. Thatโs the spirit Malden River Day is all about: connecting with nature and with one another.
A heartfelt thank-you to every vendor, volunteer, and participant who made the day so special. See you next year! ๐ Special thanks to Riverโs Edge and Friends of Malden River for helping make this event possible!

๐ง๏ธ๐ฅ Food Around the World
The rain came down hard, but it couldnโt dampen the spirits of the families who showed up! On 5/30, we welcomed more than 20 families and kids for a delicious journey around the globe ๐
Together we explored the history and cultural roots of Greek yogurt, Vietnamese spring rolls, and Taiwanese boba tea. The kids got creative making playdough versions of each dish ๐จ and then got to taste the real thing, along with classic Chinese dumplings ๐
A huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers for guiding the children through all the hands-on fun. You made a rainy day feel warm and bright โค๏ธ

Last Saturday, we celebrated an incredible year of leadership, growth, and community at the YLMP End-of-Year party! It was an unforgettable night as former, current, and incoming members came together to look back on our journey. We shared memories through a special year-in-review video and drew inspiration from powerful speeches delivered by our program officers.
This year, our dedicated team of 20+ mentors from three different schools showed up consistently to guide, inspire, and support over 100 fourth and fifth graders across three local elementary schools. Throughout three major leadership events, countless workshops and trainings, our youth poured their hearts into making a real impact in our communities.
We are incredibly proud and grateful to everyone who made this year a huge success. Thank you for leading the way!

On May 23, 2026, our 2026 AAPI Heritage Celebration brought together four remarkable speakers, a packed room of neighbors, and an afternoon of stories that will stay with us.
Ricardo โRickโ Wong, Natalie Ip, Brian Lim, and Tanu Phoenix each shared their journeys across continents and cultures โ from Cuba, China, and Spain, to Hong Kong, Cambodia, and India. Hosted by the wonderful Barsha Gautam, the panel sparked a Q&A so warm and engaged that we wished we had another hour.
One guest put it perfectly:
๐ฌ โEvery single speaker was articulate and admirable in their character, accomplishments, and journey as immigrant. I was so moved by their resilience and the hard work of translating hardship into creative resilience.โ
Tanuโs friends opened the stage with a stunning dance performance. Brian and his fellow artists from The Flavor Continues followed with an electrifying breaking cypher. Rick closed with a beautiful Tai Chi demonstration. And we ended the day sharing food from across Asia โ the truest expression of community we know.
Thank you to every speaker, performer, volunteer, and guest. You made this day what it was. ๐
