As we head into Week 5 of camp, we’re taking a moment to look back at the magical Disney-themed week our Vocational campers enjoyed! ✨🏰

From creating their own superhero masks and transforming into brave heroes, to building educational skills through fun and engaging puzzles, our campers embraced every adventure with enthusiasm and imagination. 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

To top it all off, they earned special certifications recognizing their heroics, bravery, and incredible efforts throughout the week. We are so proud of all they accomplished and the magical memories they made along the way! 💫

🎡✨ Last week, our Vocational Academy campers put their creativity and teamwork on full display as they spent the week building, creating, and preparing for an exciting **Carnival Day!**

From crafting the games to enjoying the fun they worked so hard to create, every smile was a reminder that the best memories are made together. 💙

From creepy crawlies to hands-on fun, this week is buzzing with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories. There's never a dull moment at MDE Summer Camp! 💙

Thank you to North Ga State Fair for the amazing grant for smart boards. Words alone cannot express the gratitude we have for this amazing gift and our students truly will benefit from the generosity. Thank you just doesn’t seem like enough but a thousand Thank You’s from all of us at MDE School!

🌮👨‍🍳 It may not be Taco Tuesday, but these Cooking Camp chefs have me questioning my lunch plans!

The delicious creations coming out of camp today have my stomach growling and my mouth watering. 😋 If these young chefs opened a restaurant, I'd definitely be first in line for a plate... and probably coming back for seconds!

Good thing they're cooking up more than just tasty treats—they're also serving confidence, creativity, and lots of smiles. 💙

👩‍🍳🍪 Week 2 of Summer Camp is serving up something special at MDE!

Our campers are busy mixing, measuring, creating, and of course tasting some amazing treats during this week's **Cooking Camp**. But the sweetest ingredients aren't found in the recipes—they're the laughter, friendships, confidence, and memories being made along the way. 💙

From delicious creations to unforgettable moments, Summer Camp at MDE is truly a treat for all!

Our Vocational Academy campers are officially “Wild About Nature” during Week 1 of summer camp! 🌿🦋🌊

This week has been filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and sensory-friendly fun! Campers explored woodland nature by creating handmade pieces for their interactive nature wall, sorting insects and plants, planting vegetables, and designing beautiful bird ornaments. 🪴🐦

They also spent time outdoors exploring sea life in an engaging and sensory-friendly way that brought so many smiles and unforgettable moments. 💙

We love watching our campers learn, create, explore, and thrive while making summer memories together!

Accessibility is so important in this community and it’s something we pride ourselves on here at MDE School! And we are so grateful for the wonderful staff at Greater Atlanta Speech and Language Clinics, Inc for their continued collaboration and education they provide to our staff on a consistent basis so we can better serve our students!

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). 💙

Accessibility means:

✨ reducing barriers instead of expecting children to “push through”
✨ providing supports without shame
✨ recognizing that different does not mean less

For many neurodivergent individuals and people with disabilities, accessibility can look like:
AAC devices and communication supports
Visual schedules
Movement breaks
Sensory accommodations
Flexible expectations
Extra processing time
Environments designed with inclusion in mind

True accessibility is about more than compliance.
It is about dignity, autonomy, connection, and making sure every person has the opportunity to fully participate in the world around them.
