😎🖍️Get ready for a sweet start to the school year! Incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students and their families are invited to join us on the playground on Monday, July 27, from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. for a fun morning of cool treats and warm hellos. This is a great chance for your child to meet their new principals, make some new friends, and connect with other Willow Wood Elementary families before the first day of school.

The Spring 2026 STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exam results in Algebra I, English I, English II, Biology, and U.S. History will be available beginning June 10, 2026. ☀️Melissa ISD offices follow a modified schedule during the summer break from school. The standard summer office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with all offices closed on Fridays. Across the district, summer office hours take effect Monday, June 1, and normal office hours resume Monday, Aug. 3. 🌟 Melissa ISD elementary schools made an outstanding impact in the 2026 H-E-B School Plastic Bag Recycling Challenge, collecting over 184,000 bags among all the elementary campuses. In just one month, students from Willow Wood, North Creek, Sumeer, Highland, and Harry McKillop Elementary worked together to collect plastic bags, helping promote recycling and reduce plastic waste.

Each campus showed incredible community spirit, with every school collecting more than 10,000 bags:
🌎 Harry McKillop Elementary: 66,074 bags
🌎 Highland Elementary: 45,725 bags
🌎 North Creek Elementary: 40,311 bags
🌎 Sumeer Elementary: 14,622 bags
🌎 Willow Wood Elementary: 17,275 bags

🏆 Across the state, 816 schools participated, collecting more than 8.4 million plastic bags and setting a new record for Texas.

For Melissa High School only, the last day of school is Thursday, May 21, with early release and the Class of 2026 Graduation Commencement that evening. For all other campuses, the last day of school is Friday, May 22, with early release.

Curiosity + Science + Crunch = Bug Day! 🐜🔬✨
Our 2nd graders met a scientist on Friday, explored how cultures around the world prepare and eat insects, answered questions about what they learned, and — drumroll — tried a cricket! 🦗😲 Some smiles, some nervous laughs, lots of learning.
