The dread of learning loss is real, but forcing an ADHD brain to sit down and do traditional school worksheets in July is a recipe for a meltdown.
Good news: You can keep those executive function skills sharp through everyday, high-interest activities.
Cooking together: Builds working memory, sequencing, and math.
Family board games: Teaches impulse control, turn-taking, and strategic thinking.
Audiobooks or Graphic Novels: Keeps language skills active without the pressure.
You aren’t slacking on education; you’re just gamifying it!

The tool? External visual and auditory cues. (Think: visual checklists, phone alarms, and fun timers).
When we constantly repeat instructions ("Put your shoes on... I said put your shoes on..."), it strains our relationship with our kids and feeds into executive dysfunction. It feels like nagging.
But when a timer goes off, or a checklist shows what’s next, the tool becomes the boss, not you. It removes the power struggle and shifts the ownership over to your child.
Try it: Set up these neutral cues so your summer mornings can run on autopilot.
