Before we leave for where ever we are going we will perform a quick check in the mirror, and to make sure everything is in place and we have everything we need.
Predictive Avoidance, that first layer to our personal defense, performs one last check to make sure we have considered our safety and security before we leave. We are likely going to go reguardless, but having the answers to a few questions only bolsters our safety.
Review the what If(s). Have a plan for the evening. Don't get trapped in a situation that you hadn't considered.

When a warning light appears on your dashboard, you don't fix the light—you investigate what caused it to come on.
Stress works much the same way.
When we perceive a threat, our body begins preparing for survival. Increased heart rate, heightened awareness, and a surge of energy are not signs that something is wrong with us. They are signs that something may require our attention.
Personal defense is not about eliminating stress. It is about learning to make good decisions while stress is doing what it was designed to do.
