A message from our Executive Director...

"Dear REACH Memphis Family,

It is with deep gratitude and admiration that we pause to honor the life and legacy of REACH Memphis founder, Mr. Jed Dreifus.

Nearly 60 years ago, alongside Mrs. Frances Hooks, Mr. Dreifus helped create what would become REACH Memphis. What began as a simple yet powerful belief that young people deserve access to opportunities beyond what they can see has grown into a legacy that has transformed thousands of lives.

As I reflect on his passing, I am struck by the extraordinary impact one person’s vision can have across generations. Because Mr. Dreifus chose to invest in students, countless young people have discovered new possibilities, expanded their horizons, and built futures they may never have imagined for themselves.

Mr. Dreifus understood something that still guides our work today: when we invest in young people and expose them to new opportunities, we create ripple effects that extend far beyond any one student, family, or moment in time.

His contributions to Memphis reached far beyond our organization, but for all of us at REACH Memphis, we will forever be grateful that he chose to plant a seed that continues to grow nearly six decades later.

On behalf of the REACH Memphis team, I extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. We hope they find comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on every day through the students we serve and the futures that continue to be changed because of his vision.
