Today, The Gentlemen’s League proudly celebrates Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, progress, and the enduring strength of Black people.

Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is worth fighting for, history is worth remembering, and our young people are worth investing in.

As we continue our mission to Educate. Enrich. Empower., we honor those who came before us and remain committed to building a brighter future for the generations to come.

The Executive Director's highest recognition goes to those who believe in this mission so deeply, they give it EVERYTHING.

This year we had three Golden Apple recipients:

MR. TROY BRADLEY (Leadership Prep)
A volunteer mentor/site coordinator who didn't have to show up. He showed up anyway. His personal investment in our Gents is an act of pure love.

MR. ANTONIO McKAY- not pictured (KIPP Middle)
Leading with excellence. Under his watch: GPAs rising, absences dropping, behavior improving. That's mentorship that changes lives.

BLAKE KELLY (Bellevue Middle → Rising 9th Grade)
A young man who embodies what we stand for. Leadership among peers. Engagement. Excellence. The future of the Gents.

These three represent the heart of what we do. Thank you for your sacrifice, your excellence, and your belief.

Some awards you give. Some awards a school earns.

This year, one school stood above the rest, and it wasn't by accident.
PCA Southeast Elementary is our 2026 School Site of the Year. And the man leading the charge there is our 2026 Site Coordinator of the Year, Mr. Jaylon Holmes.

Here's what one grandmother had to say about Mr. Holmes:
"Mr. Holmes is present for my two grandsons during school and if I need to contact him after school. If my grandsons need advice or have an issue, he helps with it. I worked 33 years serving four different government agencies, and I can certainly say, we need more men and mentors like Mr. Holmes."

That's the kind of presence that changes a school's entire culture. And the numbers prove it.

Congratulations, Mr. Holmes. Congratulations, PCA Southeast Elementary. You showed Memphis what Built Different really means.

The school year might be over. But the impact these men and women had on our boys? That's lasting.

Our Site Coordinators are the heartbeat of The Gentlemen's League at every school. They recruit the mentors. They manage the program. They show up, every single day, so our boys don't have to figure it out alone.
