The GSL school community is a living tapestry, and each of us contributes our “stitch.” As Head of Middle School, Ellen Hendry stitched and mended our tapestry with dedication, skill, and great care. In honor of her retirement this year, Parents’ Association Middle School VP Arleen Hill cross-stitched this anchor, which Head of School Andy Surber presented to Mrs. Hendry on behalf of the Middle School families at her “graduation” during faculty out-service. He read this tribute they prepared:

“The design is modeled on the GSL Anchor, and the inclusion of multiple colors aims to convey the vibrant, dynamic, and diverse traits of middle school. Each stitch represents one of the 844 families whose lives Mrs. Hendry touched during her tenure as Middle School Head, plus more than 127 faculty, staff, and administrators whom Mrs. Hendry has woven together into our community. On behalf of the Middle School families we thank you for your leadership, vision, dedication, patience, grace, and wisdom. Thank you for guiding each of us as we found our place at GSL!”
