What’s it like to be a first-year teacher at MSCS? πŸŽπŸ“š

We sat down with first-year teacher Courtney Taylor to hear about his experience at MSCS-Chimneyrock Elementary School, where he not only teaches but also mentors and invests in the lives of his 5th-grade students every day.

From building meaningful relationships to making a lasting impact in the classroom, Courtney shares what inspires him as an educator and offers valuable advice for those considering a career in education or preparing for their own first year of teaching.

If you've ever thought about making a difference in the lives of children, this is your sign. Join us and be part of something bigger. Our students are waiting for leaders, mentors, and champions just like you.

Our Southeast and Southwest regions hosted their annual site-based decision making council. Today's brunch was attended by Superintendent Dr. Roderick Richmond and regional superintendents Dr. Michael Lowe and Lischa Brooks.

Representatives from parent teacher organizations were able to discuss improving student achievement and strengthen the partnership between school, family, and community through shared decision-making related school goals, resources, and school climate.

Exciting things are happening at our Summer Learning Academies!

Students have been actively engaged in small-group tutoring, field trips, movie outings, and even a friendly basketball tournament. We’re thrilled to see the incredible learning and fun experiences taking place across all of our SLA sites.

While temperatures over the last week were steadily hot, our students made the most out of their experiences at the Shelby Metro Camps. Students had an amazing time and grew in their respective sport – whether it was soccer, basketball, or football.

Throughout the camps, Memphis Shelby County Interscholastic Athletic Association coaches remained mindful of students' well-being, ensuring they took hydration and rest breaks.
