When I started yoga, I thought it was about people bending into forms that were, at first, perplexing. But yoga moves in its own way, and I had much to learn. As a dedicated student, I paid attention to words from my teachers as their guidance into the correct placement of my feet, hands, and my gaze. I followed instructions for breathing and listened closely for techniques and transitions, and at the end of practice, I lay down with other yogis in stillness, like a motorcycle resting on its jiffy-stand....

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is themed worldwide ride born in 2012 in Australia ( thanks Mark Hawa) that aims to raise money and awareness for men’s mental health, prostate cancer research, and su***de prevention. In 2026, the ride was held on Sunday,May,17. It’s the second time I ride the DGR. Last it was in Lille, France, in 2017, on my 1979 XS 650 Yamaha. This year I borrowed @acupunkontheroad ‘s 2003 Low Rider Harley-Davidson, and met my friend @motorcyclingyogig on his lovely RE 500cc at the departure line. By the time DGR started in Phoenix this year, the ride had rised $14,000. The ride took us from Phoenix Downtown to Scottsdale with a refreshing stop at Glendale and 7th street. Arizona temperature is not a joke in May. The organizers @phoenixtriumphmotorcycles were wise to think about it. I of course took one of my favorite cameras to make some memories, a #barnackiid loaded with. #kodaktrix400. The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride began in Sydney, Australia in 2012, when Mark Hawwa imagined a themed motorcycle ride that could gather classic and vintage-style riders around a cause larger than the road itself. Today, DGR rides take place around the world, raising money and awareness for men’s mental health, prostate cancer research, and su***de prevention. In 2026, the ride was held on Sunday, May 17. I’ve ridden the DGR every year since 2019. It is one of those rare motorcycle events where the ride slows down, the machines get smaller and older, and the riders show up dressed with care....
