Most parents don’t realize confidence this💜…

And self-worth are not the same thing.

A child can be confident on the soccer field.
Confident in school.
Confident speaking in front of a room.

And still secretly believe they’re only worthy when they’re succeeding.

That realization changed the way I think about parenting.

Because life will eventually bring mistakes, rejection, disappointment, and failure.

The goal isn’t to raise children who only believe in themselves when things are going well.

The goal is to raise children who still know their worth when things don’t.

What do you think is harder to build in a child: confidence or self-worth?

I borrowed these from a child therapist🥹👇

A child isn’t born knowing how to be kind.

They learn it from the messages they hear over and over.

Here are 7 messages I would intentionally build into a bedtime story:

1️⃣ “How someone feels matters.”

2️⃣ “Being kind is more important than being right.”

3️⃣ “Everyone makes mistakes, including me.”

4️⃣ “You can be strong and gentle at the same time.”

5️⃣ “You don’t have to earn love.” 💜

6️⃣ “The way you speak to others matters.”

7️⃣ “The way you speak to yourself matters too.”

This is one of the reasons I built BELU.

Inside the app, parents choose an emotion, a value, and a lesson they want their child to practice—and BELU turns it into a personalized bedtime story starring their child.

✨ Kindness.
✨ Confidence.
✨ Resilience.
✨ Emotional intelligence.

One story at a time.

The questions I asked👇

I wasn’t expecting some of her answers. 🥹

One thing I’ve learned as a mom is that children often understand things more deeply than we give them credit for.

They don’t always have the perfect words.

But sometimes they have the perfect wisdom.

Watching her answer these questions reminded me why I’m so passionate about helping children build a strong inner voice.

Because one day our voice becomes theirs.

And eventually, theirs becomes the voice they carry through life.

💜 Which answer was your favorite?

👇 Tell me below.

P.S. A big reason I built Belu was to help parents continue these conversations through personalized bedtime stories that reinforce confidence, resilience, empathy, and self-worth.

A psychologist explained this to me👇

Most of us think this happens during the toddler years.

It usually doesn’t.

The age they worry about most is around 4-10.

Not because we stop caring.

Because this is often when children start asking themselves questions they never had before:

• Am I good enough?
• Do people like me?
• Why am I different?
• What if I fail?
• What if nobody chooses me?

And without realizing it, some of us (even as deep caring as we are)…will label.

This is one reason I built Belu for my own daughter.

It’s a simple bedtime story app that’s been downloaded over 1,000 times in one month because it lets you turn your kids into main characters based on how they feel🥹

Last night I created a story with these exact inputs:

✨ Feeling:
Worried about fitting in

✨ Trait:
Confidence

✨ Parent note:
“Help my child trust herself even when others think differently.”

✨ Companion:
A brave fox

And these were some of the messages woven throughout the story:

💜 Your voice matters.

💜 You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.

💜 Being different isn’t a problem to solve.

💜 Mistakes don’t change your worth.

💜 You can make your own choices.

💜 You are loved exactly as you are.

Save this for the years when your child starts questioning themselves.

A psychologist taught me this years ago…

Children build self-esteem from the stories they tell themselves about who they are but most importantly…

the stories they hear about themselves from others.

And many of those stories are reinforced right before sleep.

Why?

Because bedtime is when their brains are developing identity the most.

So if I created a bedtime story for my daughter that builds confidence, leadership, and resilience…as she gets to be the main character.

Now I’m sharing it with the world.

Here are the exact inputs for a confidence nurturing story inside the app:

✨ Feeling: Nervous about trying something new

✨ Trait to strengthen: Confidence

✨ Nightly note: “You have soccer practice tomorrow and you’re worried about making mistakes.”

✨ Story role: Team captain

✨ Companion: Best friend

✨ World: Championship game

The story would naturally reinforce messages like:

1️⃣ You can do hard things.

2️⃣ Mistakes help you learn.

3️⃣ Your feelings make sense.

4️⃣ I’m proud of how you handled that.

5️⃣ You don’t have to be perfect to be loved.

6️⃣ You are capable of more than you think.

Save this recipe for the next time your child needs a confidence boost. 💜

These are the exact messages💜

All nurture and build leadership.

🌜Save this reel so you can come back to it when you are ready.

The steps help you get a story that reflect the messages back with symbolism.

I used the app BELU to create tonight’s bedtime story:

Create profile for your little one and their avatar.

✨ Step 1: Choose how they’re feeling
Example: Nervous about fitting in

✨ Step 2: Choose the trait you want to build
Example: Confidence

✨ Step 3: Add a parent note
Example: “Help her trust herself even when others think differently.”

✨ Step 4: Add a companion
We chose a brave fox.

✨ Step 5: Let the imagination fly by choosing a world.

These are the messages that naturally appeared throughout the story:

💜 You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing.

💜 Your voice matters.

💜 Being kind is more important than fitting in.

💜 It’s okay if people don’t always agree with you.

💜 Real confidence comes from knowing who you are.

💜 You can make your own choices.

Save this for the next time your child is struggling with confidence.

And if you’d like to create personalized stories like this for your own child…

One of the biggest mistakes we make as parents is assuming confidence is built during big moments.

Confidence is usually built in small moments🥹.

Especially at bedtime.

Here’s the exact story recipe to use inside app.

😊 Feeling:
Nervous

💪 Trait:
Courage

🦊 Companion:
Sally, the brave fox

✍️ Parent note:
“Bella is worried about trying something new tomorrow.”

Belu turned those inputs into a personalized bedtime story where she became the main character.

Throughout the story, these 6 messages appeared repeatedly:

1️⃣ You are safe.

2️⃣ Your feelings make sense.

3️⃣ You can do hard things.

4️⃣ Mistakes help us learn.

5️⃣ You don’t have to be perfect to be loved.

6️⃣ Even when you’re nervous, your courage is bigger than your fear.

💜 Save this for later.
