Top 3 hosting myths—BUSTED.
1) You need a big house ❌
2) You need lots of free time ❌
3) You need experience ❌
The truth? Real South Florida families with an open heart make the best hosts. Hosting is about sharing everyday life—meals, laughs, and connection that lasts a lifetime. Ready to learn what hosting could look like for your family?
Be a Hero - Host an International Student
Share your love by hosting an International high school student in USA.
Top 5 things you don’t expect when hosting an exchange student in South Florida:
1) Your pantry becomes international diplomacy.
2) Dinner turns into the best storytelling show in town.
3) Your teen suddenly cleans… to impress someone.
4) You gain a built-in Miami tour guide.
5) Goodbye is hard—because they truly feel like family.
Would you host again?
Top 5 signs your South Florida home is secretly host-family material: ✅ the “extra” chair that’s never truly extra, ✅ a pantry that already looks like the United Nations, ✅ directions given in Publix landmarks, ✅ a Wi‑Fi password passed down like a family heirloom, and ✅ “Come eat!” treated like a legally binding contract.
If this sounds like your house… you might be PERFECT host-family material. Want to learn how hosting works?

🌎💙 **A Letter to Potential Host Families** 💙🌎
Hello everyone! 😊
My name is Jackie Willock, and I have the privilege of working as a Local Coordinator for International High School Students.
Every year, I help amazing students from around the world find kind and welcoming Host Families here in South Florida (and in other cities in Florida and in other states). 🏡✨
A little about me…
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Business Administration 🎓 and a Master’s Degree in Business Management 📚. I am happily married ❤️ and the proud parent of two young adult children:
📰 **Shantelle** – Journalist
🩺 **David** – Recent University of Florida graduate in Biology/Pre-Medicine and next is applying to medical school.
In my free time, I love going to the beach 🌴☀️, dancing 💃, attending concerts and performances 🎶🎭, and volunteering in my community.
I proudly volunteer with **Scouting America, Troop 599-Miami (Kendall)** ⚜️ where I serve as the Eagle Project Coach 🦅. (https://www.facebook.com/groups/troop599miami/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT)
I also volunteer at the **Adrienne Arsht Center** Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts 🎭.
❤️🍎📚🎒📝🚌 But one of the things closest to my heart ❤️ is working with International High School Students 🌍.
Every student brings a unique culture, personality, and story. I learn so much from them, and it is truly rewarding to watch them grow during their exchange year. While they are here, I serve as their Supervisor/Local Coordinator to help ensure everything goes smoothly with both the Host Families 🏡 and the student's school 🏫.
I love planning monthly group activities 🎉 and attending their school events such as:
🏈 Football games
⚽ Other Sports events
🎤 Talent shows
🏆 Awards nights
🎓 Graduations, etc.
I also help students when needed by:
👗 Taking them prom dress shopping
📸 Organizing photo shoots
🎓 Going on college tours
🛍️ Giving rides to the mall
🎢 Planning exciting big trips to take them to places like Universal Studios and Key West, etc.
My Host Families are on a group chat and my students on a separate chat, there we share important information, photos, videos, events, activities to stay connected as a community.
If a student or Host Family is ever having difficulties, I am always there as a listening ear 👂, offering guidance, support, and solutions 🤝.
Right now, I still have a few wonderful students waiting for someone special to choose to host them.
🧳✈️ Their bags are packed, and they check their emails every single day 📧 hoping TODAY will be the day they receive the exciting news that YOU — or someone you know — has decided to host them. ❤️
Even if you cannot host, you can still help! 🙌
If you refer someone who ends up hosting a student, YOU can earn a referral fee 💵 ($100 or $200 depending on the student's agency).
✨ Benefits of Hosting Include:
🌍 Learning about a new culture
👫 If you have kids, giving them a “Host Brother” or “Host Sister”
🇺🇸 Sharing the American way of life
🕊️ Helping create world peace and cultural understanding, which is so needed nowadays.
‼️ All students provide a monthly stipend 💰 ($900–$1,000 per month) to their Host Family‼️, they have their own spending money 🛍️ to cover personal expenses, and carry medical insurance 🏥.
❤️❤️❤️ Host Families simply provide a caring home environment and meals at home 🍽️.

Attention: Christopher Columbus High School Families (or people that live or work close to this school at 3000 SW 87th Avenue, Miami, FL 33165):
Noah (Brazil) who will be an 11th grader is ‼️STiLL‼️ waiting for a nice person, like ❤️ YOU ❤️ (or someone you know) to host him! 🙏🙏🙏
⏰️ Time is running out, I need your help to make his 🌍 💫 DREAMS 💫 🇺🇸 of experiencing the, August 2026 to June 2027, school year, in Miami (10 months) become a reality.
‼️A stipend ($1,000 per month) is paid to host him, this is to help to offset the costs of hosting. It is money for you. You don’t have to show receipts to anyone on how you use this money‼️ Noah has his own spending money to cover everything he needs (school supplies, uniform, activities, field trips, sports, outings with you and friends, etc.) and school tuition is paid by his agency.
Noah doesn't have any food or pet allergies, he must have his own bedroom (but he doesn't need a private bathroom, it can be shared with anyone). 🇺🇸 He has strong English skills and he can't wait to improve it with your help.
🇧🇷 You will learn all about the Brazilian culture and have a new son and later you can go explore his country when he returns to Brazil. If you have kids at home they will have a Host Brother who can play with them and teach them Portuguese. 🇧🇷
🙋♂️🙋♀️👥👪👨👩👧👧👨👧👧👩👧👧 Host Families come in all shapes, colors and sizes (a single person without kids at home, a single parent with or without kids at home, empty nesters, etc. can host).
*This is not a real photo of Noah, since he is a minor I'm not allowed to post his real photo.
🚌 I also have students requesting to attend a Miami Dade County Public School (Stipend: $800-$1,000 per month). Let me know if you can host Noah or a student that will attend the MDCPS high school that is zoned to your home address?🎒

Wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all the Super Moms, especially my Former, Current and Future HOST MOMS! ❤️🌎❤️

WANTED: Real Families (Yes, YOU!)
We’re looking for host families for students arriving this August — and before you say “we’re too busy,” let me stop you right there…
Perfect families need NOT apply.
We want the real ones.
The pizza-on-a-Tuesday 🍕
laundry-piled-high 🧺
calendar-is-a-hot-mess 📆
“what’s for dinner?” at 8:30pm 🍝
Netflix-on-the-couch 📺
beautifully imperfect families 👨👩👧👦
Sound like your house? Congratulations… you’re exactly what our students are dreaming of.
Our students are normal teens (well… normal-ish 😄), super excited, English-speaking, and counting down the days until they can experience real American life — not a picture-perfect version, but YOUR version.
If your life feels a little chaotic, a little loud, a little “we’re doing our best over here”…
👉 YOU are the perfect host family.
Here’s the good stuff:
💵 Monthly stipend: $800–$1,000
🩺 Students come with health insurance
💳 They have their own spending money
🎯 YOU choose the student who fits your family best
Single? Married? Kids? No kids?
All are welcome.
Right now, students are checking their emails every single day… hoping today is the day they find out they have a host family.
Maybe that family is yours.
