As we prepare to celebrate graduation tomorrow, we’re sharing the final group of fifth graders and the personal designs they created in Makers Lab.
•
Throughout this experience, students used graphic design to communicate pieces of themselves, the things they love, the memories they hold onto, and the ideas that have shaped their time at KLA. Through thoughtful choices in color, symbols, images, and layout, each design became its own unique form of expression.
•
These final designs mark the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another, a reminder of the many voices, perspectives, and memories that have helped shape this graduating class.

•
In Makers Lab, students explored graphic design as a form of storytelling and self-expression, using color, imagery, symbols, and composition to create personal “About Me” designs that represent who they are and what matters most to them.
•
Each piece captures a unique perspective, a visual reflection of identity, growth, and the lasting impact of their years within our community.

These are just the first few pieces we’re beginning to share, with many more to come!

Kindergarten Learning on Stage!
Throughout the year, one group investigated the interconnectedness of humans, plants, insects, and living things, exploring how all beings coexist within shared ecosystems. Another group followed a collective desire for adventure, debating whether to travel to the moon or to Thailand to visit a friend who had moved there. Thailand won, and through maps, storytelling, research, and imagination, the children constructed a shared journey together.
Both performances reflected something deeply human: the need to belong, to explore, to collaborate, and to make meaning with others!
