Real talk. Real skills. Real impact.

This week’s AHEC CHIP Seminar brought it all:
✨ A powerful, honest conversation with Ericka Sinclair from , who shared a raw perspective on working with underserved communities—grounded in timely, lived experiences and engaging students through thoughtful reflection.
✨ A “back to high school” experience led by Susan Davies + Ricki Armstead, where CHIPterns teamed up to present on real-world health topics.

From discussion to collaboration, our CHIPterns are building the skills to lead in community health.

We’re off to a strong start with our first two CHIP seminars!

Our first session was hosted with an incredible new community partner, Safe & Sound, where interns explored the foundations of public health through interactive discussions, case studies, and insights from our CHIP Coach, Jaylen Riley—alongside powerful connections to the public health lens the Milwaukee Department of Community Wellness and Safety uses in their work.

Our second seminar brought us to a valued, long-standing partner, the UW-Whitewater Sustainability Office, where interns experienced public health in action—touring the greenhouse, campus garden, Children’s Center, and Warhawk Pantry while learning how sustainability, food access, and community resources all intersect.

From engaging conversations to hands-on learning, these seminars are equipping interns to think critically, collaborate, and make a real impact in their communities. Stay tuned for more!
