Rufus King seniors have accumulated many accolades over the years. Today, we learned that one of our seniors is a USA Lacrosse All Academic award winner. Please read the message below to learn more about Declan Combs.

"Wisconsin is only allowed to recognize 7 recipients each year based on criteria set by USA Lacrosse related to the number of teams in our state. This year we have seen a record number of qualified candidates submitted for nomination this year with 24 student athletes from around the state starting with a minimum 3.7 unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale.

During the voting period I noticed Declan had the 2nd or 3rd highest weighted GPA amongst all candidates at a 4.29. Also in my opinion Declan also had one of the most well rounded and diverse extracurricular, and service resumes with achievements in academics, athletics, fine arts, and service hours and projects while maintaining excellent grades through his high school career.

I am proud to say that in the few years I have been the head coach of our program we have nominated at least 1 or more student athletes for this award each year and have been recognized 4 of those years with one recipient being a 2x winner. Also I think this speaks volumes to some of the young men who may get overlooked by the state 2 of these players are now from our MPS affiliate schools over those years. 1 from Golda Maier (Carson Pagel - '22, '23 winner), and now Rufus King (Declan Combs - '25 nominated, '26 winner)."

Congratulations Declan! We will see you on June 22nd at graduation!
