✨🐾We are Panther Proud to celebrate the collaborations of our UWM Communication Sciences & Disorders graduate students with our research-active faculty and research collaborators!

🐾Emma B. (CSD MS student) presented a research poster at the 46th Annual Symposium for Research in Child Language Disorders (SRCLD) Conference! Together with Alyssa Wojtyna, MS, CCC-SLP (Project Manager/Statewide Coordinator, WisCCA Grant; UWM Communication Sciences & Disorders), John Heilmann, PhD, CCC-SLP (Professor, UWM Communication Sciences & Disorders), and Dawn Merth-Johnson, MA, CCC-SLP (Collaborator), the team showcased their research titled, "A Framework Guided Matrix Analysis of System-Level Supports for Comprehensive Evaluations."

🏆Additionally, Emma B. received a travel award to present at the SRCLD Conference hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison ! Way to go, Emma!🎉🎉

The 46th Annual SRCLD was held at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Downtown Madison, Wisconsin.

The SRCLD features a "pre-conference tutorial, invited plenary talks, short oral presentations, and more than 100 posters over a two and a half day period. ✨🐾After 25 years of dedicated service, CSD celebrates the retirement of Dr. Shelley Lund, a nationally recognized scholar in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

Dr. Lund’s work has helped transform AAC practice by advancing individualized, participation-based, and culturally responsive approaches to communication assessment and intervention.

At UWM, she has been an outstanding mentor, leader, and advocate. From guiding students into the profession to leading the implementation of holistic admissions and advancing equity initiatives within the CSD program and College of Health Sciences, her impact has been both profound and lasting.

Dr. Lund’s legacy is one of scholarship, advocacy, and meaningful change. Thank you, Dr. Lund, for your extraordinary contributions. We wish you the very best in your retirement. Congratulations!🎉🎉

💛🐾We are proud to celebrate Dawn M. Hennes (Clinical Associate Professor, Educational Internship Coordinator) and her remarkable 25 years of service to the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee!

Dawn’s career has been defined by her dedication to students, the profession of speech-language pathology, and the communities she has served. As a clinical educator and School Placement Coordinator, she built strong community partnerships, expanded meaningful clinical opportunities, and helped shape generations of confident, compassionate clinicians.

Her leadership in developing UWM’s undergraduate clinic and her contributions to clinical education have left a lasting mark on our program. Above all, Dawn has been an extraordinary mentor, inspiring students to grow, reflect, and see themselves as professionals from the very beginning.

Thank you, Dawn, for your incredible service. Congratulations on your retirement!🎉🎉
