Last week Professor John Isbell took a group of students to Ontario, Canada, to investigate Earth's first so-called snowball-Earth event as recorded by rocks of the Huronian Supergroup. The rocks are 2.1 to 2.5 billion years old, and the "glacial" intervals were deposited by subaqueous sediment gravity flows and possible iceberg rafting. Looks like a good time was had by all!
