The Center for Urban Teaching's founder spent time with more than 300 aspiring and emerging teachers and leaders in our 17th annual Summer School Program, sharing wisdom and encouragement for the work ahead. A strong summer school experience for students starts long before they walk through the classroom door.

It begins with CfUT recruiting and preparing joy-filled teachers and leaders who believe every child should be known, loved and challenged to achieve their full potential.

After several days of training in Milwaukee, CfUT’s 20 Summer School teams stepped away from the city for a two-day retreat to connect, reflect and prepare for the work ahead.

These moments help lay the foundation for a transformational summer school experience filled with joy, excellence and unconditional love.

The Center for Urban Teaching's Summer School teachers and leaders spent two unforgettable days together at the Green Lake Conference Center.

Through team building, shared experiences and meaningful workshops, our 20 school teams began building the relationships, skills and Christ-centered culture they'll carry into their schools this summer.

The Center for Urban Teaching’s (CfUT) Summer School teams have arrived in beautiful Green Lake, Wis., for an unforgettable overnight retreat.

This tradition is a meaningful part of CfUT’s intensive Summer School Program. It’s a time for aspiring teachers and leaders to build relationships, strengthen team culture and prepare for the work ahead.

Soon, these teams will lead summer school at 20 sites across Milwaukee and Racine, gaining real-world experience, while serving students with excellence, joy, purpose and unconditional love.

The Center for Urban Teaching's (CfUT) 17th annual Summer School Program is underway!

More than 300 aspiring teachers and leaders are preparing to serve at 20 sites across Milwaukee and Racine.

Through CfUT's signature summer school experience, participants receive hands-on training, expert coaching and real-time feedback before stepping into classrooms and leadership roles.

We are grateful for your continued support and for recognizing the vital role educators play in shaping Milwaukee’s future. This summer, nearly 350 aspiring teachers and school leaders will gain hands-on experience while leading summer school at 20 schools and serving about 1,500 children across Milwaukee with joy, purpose and excellence.

CfUT's paid Leadership Development Program offers six weeks of immersive school leadership experience designed for aspiring and emerging leaders ready to make an impact.

Work alongside experienced educational leaders as you help oversee instruction, school culture, operations, and staff development at a summer school site. Through two weeks of leadership training followed by four weeks of hands-on leadership experience, you'll build practical skills that prepare you to lead with confidence.

Grow as a leader while making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and educators. Participants may also qualify for continuing education support, including opportunities for a full scholarship toward a master's degree in Leadership and Innovation and/or principal licensure through CfUT's partnership with Wisconsin Lutheran College.

Starting compensation: $3,500

The CfUT Leadership Development Program gives aspiring and current leaders the opportunity to lead in real school environments while making a direct impact on students and staff this summer. Participants gain hands on leadership experience in instruction, culture, operations, and staff development across summer school sites serving K5–8 students.

Starting compensation begins at $3,500, with opportunities to qualify for continuing education support, including master’s degree and principal licensure pathways through Wisconsin Lutheran College.
