Our first graders learned about important symbols of the United States! 🇺🇸 At La Escuela Fratney, first-grade students learn social studies in Spanish, building their bilingual literacy skills as they read, write, and discuss the important symbols that represent our country. We are so proud of their hard work and learning.

One of La Escuela Fratney's longest-standing traditions is spending one of the last days of the school year together at Kern Park. Every year, our entire school community—from K4 through 6th grade—comes together for a day of fun, connection, and outdoor learning.

Students enjoy the playground, play games, share a picnic lunch, take walks along the river, and cheer on one of our favorite traditions: the annual 5th graders vs. staff kickball game!

At La Escuela Fratney, we believe that building community is just as important as academic learning. Spending time outdoors helps our students connect with one another, appreciate nature, and create lasting memories.

In recent years, we've expanded this tradition by adding a Fall Park Day on the third Friday of September, giving students another opportunity to learn, play, and build community outside the classroom.

We are committed to creating a balanced educational experience that values academic excellence, social-emotional learning (SEL), and meaningful time in nature.

Una de las tradiciones más queridas de La Escuela Fratney es pasar el último viernes del año escolar en el Parque Kern. Cada año, toda nuestra comunidad escolar, desde K4 hasta 6.º grado, se reúne para disfrutar de un día de diversión, convivencia y aprendizaje al aire libre.

Los estudiantes disfrutan del área de juegos, participan en actividades recreativas, comparten un almuerzo tipo picnic, caminan junto al río y animan una de nuestras tradiciones favoritas: ¡el partido anual de kickball entre los estudiantes de 5.º grado y el personal de la escuela!

En La Escuela Fratney creemos que fortalecer las comunidades de nuestras aulas y de toda la escuela es tan importante como el aprendizaje académico. Pasar tiempo al aire libre ayuda a nuestros estudiantes a convivir, apreciar la naturaleza y crear recuerdos inolvidables.

En los últimos años, también hemos agregado una nueva tradición: un Día del Parque en otoño, el tercer viernes de septiembre, para brindar otra oportunidad de aprender, jugar y fortalecer la comunidad fuera del salón de clases.

Estamos comprometidos con ofrecer una experiencia educativa equilibrada que valore la excelencia académica, el aprendizaje socioemocional (SEL) y el tiempo significativo en la naturaleza.

La Escuela Fratney, Wisconsin’s first two-way bilingual school, is growing!

Located in Milwaukee’s vibrant and diverse Riverwest neighborhood, we are expanding to become a K3–8th grade school, allowing us to better serve our students and English Language Learners.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the school year! ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to our students, families, and staff for planning, supporting, and attending our K5 End-of-Year Program and Celebration on Monday. Our students proudly shared their learning about animals, demonstrating their growth, curiosity, and hard work throughout the year.

It was inspiring to see our gym and cafeteria filled with families, creating a vibrant celebration of learning and community. We are especially grateful for the rich diversity of our students and families, whose cultures, languages, and experiences make our school such a special place.

Thank you for partnering with us and for helping make this event a memorable success. We are so proud of our K5 students and all they have accomplished this year!

Queremos expresar nuestro más sincero agradecimiento a nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal por planificar, apoyar y asistir al Programa y Celebración de Fin de Año de K5 el lunes. Nuestros estudiantes compartieron con orgullo todo lo que aprendieron sobre los animales, demostrando su crecimiento, curiosidad y esfuerzo durante todo el año.

Fue inspirador ver el gimnasio y la cafetería llenos de familias, creando una celebración llena de aprendizaje, alegría y comunidad. Today was a beautiful day as we celebrated our amazing 5th graders! 🎓✨One of the most special parts of our 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony is that the students write and deliver their own speeches, sharing their voices, memories, and dreams for the future. They also performed two beautiful songs under the direction of Ms. Amanda, making the ceremony even more meaningful.

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our 5th graders. While some will continue their journey with us in middle school, others will be moving on to new schools and exciting opportunities. No matter where their next chapter takes them, they will always be part of our school community.

A heartfelt thank you to our families and staff for their unwavering support, encouragement, and partnership. Congratulations, 5th graders—we can't wait to see all the wonderful things you will accomplish!

Una de las partes más especiales de nuestra ceremonia de promoción es que los propios estudiantes escriben y presentan sus discursos, compartiendo sus voces, recuerdos y sueños para el futuro. También interpretaron dos hermosas canciones bajo la dirección de la Sra. Amanda, lo que hizo que la ceremonia fuera aún más significativa.

Estamos sumamente orgullosos de cada uno de nuestros estudiantes de 5.º grado. Algunos continuarán su trayectoria con nosotros en la escuela secundaria, mientras que otros seguirán su camino en nuevas escuelas y vivirán nuevas experiencias.
