Learning to deal with the speed of a stick coming at you in real time is hard enough. You need the courage to close if you cannot for some reason leave. You need the skill to avoid getting hit hard and fortitude if you get hit. You need to close to grapple or strike until the stick is not an issue. Dealing with the speed and intent on a stick is a nightmare in itself! Altercations usually deal with a weapon. Even though it can be scary and intimidating through training one can have an idea how to deal with such a situation!
