TSU was originally organized as the Agricultural and Industrial State Normal School in 1909 and began serving students on June 19, 1912. Its status was raised to a four-year teachers' college in 1922, and two years later it was renamed the Agricultural and Industrial State Normal College. It was elevated to university status in 1951, renamed the Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial Univer

In remembrance of TSU alumna Senator Thelma Harper, a portion of Clarksville Pike has been officially designated as Senator Thelma Harper Parkway.

For more than three decades, Senator Harper championed the Nashville community while remaining a steadfast advocate for Tennessee State University. This designation serves as a permanent reminder of her leadership, service, and enduring impact on Tennessee and beyond.

TSUโ€™s most iconic landmark is back where it belongs. ๐Ÿ’™โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ…

The cupola atop the Davis Humanities Building has officially been reinstalled as part of the on-going restoration and modernization of this historic campus landmark.

To commemorate the occasion, a time capsule containing photos and handwritten reflections from TSU leadership was sealed within the historic structure.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this special milestone and the continued restoration of one of TSUโ€™s most cherished symbols! #
