Lipscomb University's George Shinn College of Entertainment and the Arts is deepening its longtime partnership with Tennessee Performing Arts Center by creating a new scholarship for students from high schools participating in TPAC’s Spotlight Awards program.

Beginning in fall 2027, Lipscomb will award two $10,000 scholarships each year to student actors and technicians who plan to pursue theater or a related field of study at Lipscomb. Renewable for up to four years, each scholarship may provide as much as $40,000 to help talented young artists take center stage in the next chapter of their education.

Today was another great day as we welcomed future Bisons and their families to Lipscomb for our final in-person New Student Orientation. From meeting faculty and future classmates to learning more about student life and the many ways to get connected, our newest students got a glimpse of what it means to be part of the Bison Herd.

This is a first-of-its-kind award created to support undergraduate students studying political science, American studies, history and journalism who demonstrate academic excellence, civic engagement, leadership and a commitment to the pursuit of liberty guided by strong ethical values.

Six Lipscomb students have been selected as the inaugural recipients of this $10,000 scholarship, which invests in students preparing to lead with character, serve their communities and contribute to the common good.

We are grateful for Mr. Milken’s generosity and his belief in Lipscomb students as the next generation of thoughtful, purpose-driven leaders.
