LSUHSC surgeons lead the way! 🐯
Congratulations to Dr. Fabienne Gray and her Pediatric General Surgery team. 🎉
Their Gun Safe Project won two awards at the Manning Family Children’s Research Day, including the We Dat Award, which was awarded to the one research project that stands in the gap for kids the most.
Dr. Gray was also invited to travel to Washington D.C. with the Children’s Hospital Association to present her Gun Safe work at their showcase at the capitol.
While there, Dr. Gray made time to thank Congressman Troy Carter for the recent federal funding he provided to expand the gun safe project.
Congratulations!! 💜💛

Dr. Charles Chappuis, Department of Surgery, and Dr. Karen Curry, Internal Medicine Lafayette, summited Mt Kilimanjaro June 4th and completed a 10-day trek through the mountains. Although this was Dr. Curry's first mountain climb, Dr. Chappuis has climbed about 10-12 14,000' peaks in Colorado over the last 10-12 years. He saw Mt. Kilimanjaro during a Tanzania safari in 2013 got the bug to climb it.
Dr. Chappuis has shown all 7 continents the LSU purple and gold flag, and he proudly flew it atop Mt. Kilimanjaro! Congratulations, Drs. Chappuis and Curry, on checking this major accomplishment off your bucket list!
