We are an issues organizing effort in New Orleans.

We work in the areas of education, immigration and criminal justice to build the power of Black and Brown communities to create a more equitable city.

SO… We officially kicked off our FIRST Remembering Our Roots Fellowship session!

This gathering marked the beginning of a journey to preserve family histories, honor traditions, and strengthen the stories that connect generations.

Together, fellows explored the power of memory work, the importance of family archives, and the role our stories play in shaping the future.

Our histories matter. Our families matter. And the work of preserving both is an act of love, resilience, and nation-building.

We’re honored to walk alongside these families as they document and carry their legacies forward. 🖤

It’s a spiritual thing. 🔊 Beyond the everyday traditions, there is a deep, quiet understanding between our communities that doesn’t require a single translation.

As we wrap up this series on Juneteenth, the best way to honor the culture, the history, and the peace we share is by intentionally investing in the people who build it every day.

Today, take that shared heartbeat and turn it into action. Put your money where the soul is. Support a Black-owned business, show love to a local creator, and keep investing in the community that keeps us all inspired.

Let’s circulate the love. Who are we supporting today? Tag them below! 👇🏾👇🏿

No comparisons needed. Just two cultures that live and breathe the exact same feelings. ✨
Different languages, but the soul speaks the exact same way. If you know, you know.

Congratulations to the 2026 Remembering Our Roots Fellowship Families!!!!

We are honored to announce the families selected for this year’s Remembering Our Roots Family Reunion Fellowship.

This fellowship was created to help Black New Orleans families reconnect with their histories, celebrate their legacies, and strengthen the bonds that carry us forward. The response was overwhelming, and we were deeply moved by the stories, traditions, and dreams shared through the application process.

To the families selected: congratulations! We look forward to supporting your journey as you plan meaningful family reunions, preserve family stories, and create memories that will be passed down for generations.

To everyone who applied: thank you for trusting us with your stories. The strength, resilience, and love reflected in every application reminded us why this work matters. While we could not select every family this round, we hope to stay connected and continue building opportunities for families in the future.

The work of remembering is the work of honoring those who came before us while investing in those who will come after us. ❤️

Yesterday, Our Voice Nuestra Voz had the opportunity to facilitate a workshop with InspireNOLA Charter Schools’s EL teachers focused on culturally affirming curriculum and strengthening connections between schools, students, and families. 🖤🤎

Grateful for every educator in the room committed to showing up for our kids. 📚✨
