Bringing a passion for nature to New York City, one roof at a time.

Living Skylines aims to reclaim the 38,000 acres of unused roof tops in New york City and turn them into usable beauty, food, education, and jobs. We hope to add some green to this concrete jungle and in doing so, will help raise the value and longevity of the buildings our gardens grow on, reduce the CO2 and urban heat island effect in NYC, provide a beautiful landscape to grow and sell locally right here in the city, and reduce the stress and anxieties of everyone who visits our rooftops.

Bosco Verticale: Vertical Forest. Where architecture, horticulture, conservation and urban planning meet. Designed by Boeri Studio, these two residential towers house over 20,000 trees, shrubs and floral plants which convert an approximate 40,000 pounds of CO2 into oxygen, help mitigate smog, storm water run off, and the urban heat island effect, promotes biodiversity and are also self sufficient, using renewable energy from solar panels and reusing filtered waste water to keep the buildings’ plant life flourishing. In short, these two buildings, and the surrounding gardens are exemplary examples of what the future of architecture and urban planning should be looking like!

Yes yes and yes! Even the smallest actions can make a difference. Start by planting a small garden on your balcony or fire escape. Bring some planter boxes up onto your roof and get a little community garden started up there. You'll notice the bees, birds and insects will find your little oasis faster than you think but you'll also notice a sense of pride and happiness wash over you every time you visit your tiny urban forest! Be the change you wish to see! 🌿🏢🌾
