PCHS DAcCHM Alumna, Rosanna De La Cruz, LAc, discovered acupuncture while supporting a family member through cancer treatment. Seeing its impact inspired her to pursue a career in Chinese medicine.

Today, Rosanna owns 3 private practices focused on women’s health, seeing 50–60 patients each week and employing two acupuncturists. She credits PCHS's rigorous clinic experience and hands-on training with preparing her to integrate Chinese medicine with biomedicine.

The education she received gave her the confidence to become a healer, start her own practice, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals. From patient advocate to practitioner, her journey reflects what’s possible with the right foundation.

Summer teaches us that JOY is medicine! Ruled by the Fire element, it reflects the peak of Yang energy, which is warm, vibrant, expressive, and outwardly focused.

👍🏽Aligned summer energy: vitality, enthusiasm, and emotional ease

👎🏽Misaligned summer energy: restlessness, insomnia, or feeling emotionally scattered

Inclusive care starts with a simple practice: ask, don’t assume.

For LGBTQ+ patients, small choices like using affirming language, respecting pronouns, recognizing chosen family, and checking consent can help create a safer, more supportive care experience.

This Pride Month, we’re highlighting how practitioners can make patient-centered care more inclusive. Swipe right to learn more!

Ever since elementary school, PCHS BSN student Erika Cuzco knew she wanted to work in healthcare. She admired how nurses build real connections with their patients by supporting them through their hardest moments and celebrating their recovery.

Before enrolling, Erika worked as a medical assistant, where one experience confirmed her path. While caring for a patient who had no family by his side, they formed an instant connection. He kept calling her “nurse,” even though she wasn’t one yet, and that moment became the sign she needed to pursue nursing.

Now, as a first-time mom, Erika appreciates Pacific College’s hybrid program format and holistic approach which teaches nursing students to care for the whole person.

A big congratulations to the Forage & Frolic Wellness Club on hosting its very first event!

Dismantling the Scaffolding was an evening of connection, reflection, and wellness for students. It featured journaling, team-building activities, a guest speaker on Chinese medicine, and a guided meditation. We're proud to see students creating spaces where their peers can learn, grow, and support one another both inside and outside the classroom.

We're so proud of our nursing students and Dr. Katherine Irizarry for volunteering at the Hope Day Community Event in the Bronx!
Students provided blood pressure screenings and shared education on healthy nutrition and stroke awareness, helping community members access valuable health information and resources. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible.
