This week’s StuCo Spotlight goes to Anya Srivats our amazing Vice President of Student Relations!

We are nothing but grateful to her for her service to the Undergraduate Stern Community. She is an extremely dedicated and passionate individual that has dedicated so many hours of her time to make sure that StuCo runs smoothly.

Her love for the community is felt by many, and we are very happy to congratulate her for her work and for being featured in this week's StuCo Spotlight. Fun fact, it is also her birthday this week (12/2) so don’t forget to wish her a happy birthday!

Hi Sternies 💜 Today’s Wellness Wednesday post is dedicated to Trans Awareness.

Transgender people have a gender identity or gender expression that differs from the s*x that they were assigned at birth.

• Trans people are four times more likely to live in poverty.
• Trans people experience unemployment at twice the rate of the general population with rates for people of color up to four times the national unemployment rate.
• 90% of trans people report experiencing harassment, mistreatment or discrimination on the job.
• 53% of transgender people report being harassed or disrespected in a place of public accommodation, for example, a bathroom.
• 22% of respondents who have interacted with police reported harassment by police, with much higher rates reported by people of color.
• Almost half of the respondents (46%) reported being uncomfortable seeking police assistance.
• 41% of respondents reported attempting su***de, compared to 1.6% of the general population.

We are business school students. We are responsible for educating ourselves on the disparity and the systemic discrimination transgender people face in the workplace.
It is our responsibility to change this.

Congratulations to Sanemi Nair!! She’s our featured sternie for this week’s StuCo Spotlight!!

She actively contributes to discussions and brainstorms. She is a caring human being that has been working hard alongside her classmates to help her fellow sternies stay in touch with each other and engage in amazing discussions over discord. A smart and proactive individual that is both a leader and a team player?! Yep, we are certainly amazed by Sanemi's contributions to the community!

Dr. Tara Swart is a neuroscientist, a Senior Lecturer at MIT Sloan, and the author of the best-seller “The Source.” Dr. Swart has dedicated to caterer to study what is commonly known as “the power of manifestation.”

Her research illustrates that the thought patterns our brain harnesses have a direct impact on our reality. Her research demonstrates that “whether you think you can or you think you can’t...” YOU ARE RIGHT!

So in the spirit of , we invite you to chose today to be kind to yourself. The way you talk to yourself and the words you use to describe yourself, have the power to shape your reality. So today, make sure those words are kind. 💜💜💜

This Tuesday, we’ll have the chance to break out into committee meetings where you’ll debrief committee work for this semester, discuss goals for the next semester, and plan event!! Congratulations to Archana Mahesh!!! She is this week’s student featured on our StuCo Spotlight!! Archana is a committed individual working hard to improve the Stern community. Archana's contributions to the Alumni Relations Committee have been remarkable as she served as a moderator and was actively involved in the planning of the Stern Tank event.

Archana's positive attitude and commitment to the ARC mission are a testament to her passion for strengthening the Stern community during these times.
