Trump v. Slaughter will test a president’s power to “fire without restriction” Senate-confirmed officials of independent regulatory agencies, making it a bellwether for executive authority, according to NYU School of Law's Bob Bauer, who says the decision could have sweeping significance.

“All presidents seek to enlarge the sphere of their authority, but not all up to the same extent, and not all in the same way,” Bauer says.

It's a classic for a reason! This summer we're playing tourist in our own city (with a focus on historical sites) and we knew where we had to start.
Beat the heat and learn something about NYC's past along the way!

Liberty Island and Ellis Island:
🚇 Ride the subway downtown to the Battery, less than 30 minutes from Washington Sq.
🎟️ Get a general admission ticket, which includes boat rides to both islands and back
🗽 See NYC's most famous symbol and learn her story up close
🧳 Step into the shoes of generations of immigrants, and even look up your own ancestors
⛴️ Explore at your own pace (ferries run frequently) and spend the day on the water!

Stay tuned for more hot history summer itineraries. 😎

NYU mourns the passing of William “Bill” Berkley (Stern ‘66), chairman emeritus of our Board of Trustees. With an arc that goes back more than 50 years, Mr. Berkley was always there to help NYU meet a moment of crisis or opportunity.

He served tirelessly as vice chairman, chairman, and chairman emeritus of our Board of Trustees; chairman of the NYU Stern School of Business Executive Board; and member of the Board of Trustees of NYU Langone Health as well as NYU’s President’s Global Council.

In 2021, a generous philanthropic gift from the Berkley Family Foundation established the Berkley Achievement Scholarships, which have enabled talented students from across the country to attend NYU Stern tuition-free. At the time it was made, this was the single largest undergraduate scholarship gift in the history of NYU Stern and NYU. In 2023, another major gift from the Foundation launched the NYU Promise, which eliminated tuition for students whose families earn less than $100,000 and provided yearly aid increases for all students to keep up with tuition, year after year.

NYU To Give All Alumni Free Access To The Google AI Professional Certificate 06/09/2026

NEW: NYU will now offer the Google AI Professional Certificate program to all of our 700,000+ alumni, extending access to industry-recognized AI training and credentials for free—an effort Forbes called "a leading example of how universities can embrace lifelong education and career development as essential parts of their mission."

Developed by Google experts and industry leaders, the AI Professional Certificate offers practical, job-related training for real-world applications including vibe coding custom apps, producing infographics and presentations, conducting deep research, cleaning data while building visualizations, and turning goals into comprehensive project plans. It’s validated by major employers and is one of the first AI programs to earn a college credit recommendation from the American Council on Education.

Alumni interested in participating can apply through the Alumni Association website this summer. (Access for students launched in November 2024 as part of NYU's membership in the Google AI for Education Accelerator.)

You *may* have heard about some upcoming soccer matches predicted to bring hordes of fans to NJ and NYC. But what does that mean in terms of 💰 for the city, and jobs for New Yorkers? We asked NYU Stern School of Business economist Luís Cabral, who says the projected economic impacts may be overblown. He explained why the effects of mega-events like this are usually short-lived, why the 1992 Barcelona Olympics were an exception, and why World Cup 2026 is unlikely to be.
